ADDED AFTERWARDS :

As the 'Standard Tuning' of a 8 String Guitar is as follows :

8 String Standard Tuning : F# B E A D G B E

why don't try to use a 'Pitch' Option to lower the 7th String ('B') (e.g. 'Shreddage 2' Library), till you get a 'F#' which then may correspond to the 8th String (even if the result can perhaps not sound as 'natural' as with a 8th String in 'F#').
This suggestion should be applied when programming your stuff, of course, because if you do it in 'real-time', you guess that you'll not have both Strings : 'F#' and 'B' playable at the same time !

 

I've been wanting something like this for a very long time as well.
Unfortunately, the only current method i've found is as Studio555 mentioned by "tuning" Shreddage or V-Metal.
Until someone decides to sample an Ibanez TAM100... devs if you're reading this... wink, wink

8Dio progressive metal is really fun! And thanks for the suggestion Studio 555, I´ll give it a try.

If anyone serves, I have been given to know acoustic 8Dio Steel String Guitar, it has low notes (lower than traditional 8 string guitar). The sound isn´t great (for me) but works fine.

 

Looks like options are starting to turn up!
Musiclab RealEight which seems to be an Ibanez model (unknown which one) & Orange Tree Samples should be out with a Schecter Banshee with Bare Knuckle Juggernaut pickups soon enough.
