Audacity 2.1.0 Released



Audacity 2.1.0 replaces all previous versions.

- For a long time, we have wanted Real-Time Preview for effects. It seemed nearly unachievable without major restructuring. But with Audacity 2.1.0, we have it in LADSPA, VST, and Audio Unit (OS X) effects! Thanks to Leland Lucius for these great new capabilities!
- Much improved Noise Reduction effect replaces Noise Removal. Thanks to new contributor Paul Licameli!
- Lots of other improvements to effects, also thanks to Leland, including:
... VST: FXB preset banks, hosting multiple plugins
... All effects can now be used in Chains, and can be sorted on name, publisher, or class.
... Most Nyquist effects now have Preview button.
- Redesigned Meter Toolbars show a lot more information in smaller area. Thanks, Leland Lucius and James Crook!
- Spectral Selection in Spectrogram view. Thanks to Paul Licameli!

does someone seriously use it?for more than 3 days i mean

I could make an album with this as i am a musician and RECORD my stuff not a computer gury that cant play a single note.

That doesnt mean i use this all the time but i could if i had to i use Reaper instead.

I use Audacity when i want to save an song idea i suddenly got in to my head or i came up with a nice guitar riff or a melody etc etc pretty handy launch very very quick

 

RX (most time): recording from out-of-box, editing'n'restoration (full accurate editing and cleaning of any stuff: samples, recorded stuff, rendered stuff, (pre)mastering stage etc.), sometimes 3rd party plugins processing (sometimes or very rare), SRC (sample-rate converter, sometimes use command-line FinalCD or other, but iZotope ones is pro as well), dithering (Ozone's vibes here), audio analysing of everything, other engineering works

 

Nope. But I always recommend it to non-audio people in need for some editing tools ;)

 

I use audacity for quick editing! I use it to clip ringtones! Audacity is an awesome ringtone maker! For free this program is the cat's meow! Glad to see they still work on improving it. Sounds like it's almost a DAW now! Good work!
