I've had a QX49 and thought the thing was abysmal (inherited it). Sold it first chance I got. It flexed in the middle more than any board I've ever played.

On my side, i just tried to find a synth with good software integration...and nothing is really good in this domain.
I prefer now to use regular MIDI learn or Ableton custom scripts to integrate any keyboard.

Any mean to integrate a generic controller in DAWs/plugins is just a mess (being M-Audio, Novation or anyone else).
So i'm not asking for "good DAWs/plugs integration"

As far as quality goes, KORG and Akai seems good enough as reference.

that's interesting because I had a QX25 which was terrible quality. half the keys fell off and the pots were really flimsy.
but when I played the 61 i noticed the difference straight away. More weight in the keys. pots are nice and firm and the pads have a much better feel.
the faders are a bit dodgy but I can live with that.
I've had it about 4 months now so it's already outlasted the 25.

strange that the use different components on the bigger controller

    Octave up down switch
    Semitone +/-
    Velocity minimum, maximum
    High resolution encoder with inertia
High resolution, absolut poti with inertia !1024 steps !
    Motor fader with 1024 steps

I have never seen any which comes close to this specs yet.
Heck there is even no controller out there wich offers you pots with inertia and 1024 steps
