both are good, but I`d choose the 27 inch imac

(...or better spend the same money and build a monster configuration with exactly what You need)

Even though I am on the Custom PC land here and will never touch anything Mac I would go with the Imac without a doubt.
The Mac pro is just that the last Mac Pro before Apple ditches the Desktop Mac.

Save yourself some money and get more power by getting the Imac. More options to add after .

considering what I produce on I reckon they're both gonna do the job very well.
As dan said, the imac is the better computer, but personally I'd go the cheaper option and put the money into sound equipment.
You not using the computer for its sound anyway, just the processing power.
you're gonna need an audio interface anyway.

Yes, choice one is more than enough for anything. Specs are very similar to the Intel i7 4770K audio computer that I assemble for my clients. Mobo is certainly different since Apple probably uses Foxconn motherboards, I use Gigabyte UD4, and I use Nvidia GTX750 [55w] with passive cooler to keep it as silent as possible. The only thing missing from "choice 1" is SSD. I would certainly put some 256GB Kingston Hyperx, Crucial MX, or Samsung Pro SSD in it.

Load something like Komplete 10 (130 GB)on a MacPro and there's half your system drive gone already.

This is a hard question. It starts another war between the PC and Mac.

I advice for the PC blindly, but there'll be always a debate between PC and Mac users.

Go for what is your long-term goal and what you are comfortable with. It's an ongoing system-tweaking thing once you get into it.

    Good luck, and have fun.

well problem there are some apps on mac only, like logic, metasynth and therefore you need a mac pc.
i am with you there too, because i dont like how apple threats their people who buy their products.

but yes this is in the mac section, so pc vs mac discussion.

Get the Mac Pro i have seen that the iMac has a lot of heat problems Plus only 4 cores . the Mac Pro in the long run has endless expansion with Thunderbolt and if you start out with a 6 core you can always up grade the CPU easy your self to more cores

I have the new Mac Pro and it is simply incredible for audio. The iMac is a great machine, but the Mac Pro destroys it.

It's okay, there have been plenty of buy a Mac comments in the PC section from those that should know better. Your comment was an honest mistake. :mates:
