hey guys.. I´ve noticed there are a couple kontakt libraries of workstations like the korg m3, the roland fantom and the motif es... but I´m wondering how they are sounding compared to the real keyboard workstations ?... will there be a huge noticable difference or are these libraries still good to use ?

There not even close to the real thing most of them are half ass sampled with one or 2 notes stretched out over the keyboard.....there ok for certain things but I wouldn't be doing any major production with them

They do not compare to the real workstations; mainly because of the controls at Your disposal...
It would take a lot of scripting to make them similar to the real machines.
Then there is a problem that if You want to switch patches/performances while playing, they have to be preloaded in Kontakt; so You need a monster PC to do that. (or some other knowledge that I am unaware of)
DowJones pointed out the problems with some samples

On the other side, if You just want to embellish a recording with a few lines, they are good enough (IMHO)...
So, for recording, or to put down an idea on the fly, they are OK, but not for live performance

There are some standalone products like the old Korg M1 that I find easier to control and switch between patches and banks, but that is unrelated to Kontakt.

Yeah programs like Hybersonic, FM8, OP-X Pro-II are better and there are lots of libraries like that for NI Kontakt (like Synth Magic) too.

BTW please join my topics too

I don´t need it for live performances I just wanted to know if the quality of these kontakt libraries is similar to the quality of the keyboard workstation or maybe if it comes close to the quality of the workstations...

Yes, they are similar, and with some tweaking in the "Options/effects" section of Kontakt (for some of them), You can make music with them.

Sometimes You have to adjust the decay, the start and end of a loop, and things like that, but that are things that You would do even on a real machine...

In few words, You need to understand the software that You use (Kontakt), and then You can make whatever You want to suit Your needs.
...similar to a synth... You have to understand the hardware...

    btw.
A big thanks to the people that have sampled and provided us all these libraries to be used in Kontakt...

It's just my opinion= I was very disappointed when loading/playing them... just a few presets (among tons of really bad sampled voices) are just that "good"... if you're talking about those quite cheap libraries sold on e-bay= (Korg M3, Roland Fantom, Yamaha Motif, Andromeda, etc)!... but there are very good collections for Kontakt inspired by well-known mythic old synths and keyboards (D50, Evolver, and so on)= less presets than the supra-mentioned ones (less Go too!!!!!) but more paramaters/ real functions/ real arpegiators... and real fun in the end!

I do agree! Kontakt functions are far deeper than just selecting a preset to play it= in that case, a quite poor nki preset can be adjusted... I work the same way on my Tyros 4 when creating new UVN= the voice set can hel to totally reshape and optimize (is this the good word in english?) a poor sample basic material or a deficient sample loop (modifying attack fx decay and release...)... Then, you can consider that any huge collection build for Kontakt can be a rich gold mine!
