On a more serious note, maybe try taking a trip ?

A Couple of years ago I was feeling extremely depressed and I just booked a cheap flight somewhere and a hostel for a few days. It's amazing how taking a little trip, even for just a few days, can help to "reset".

Taking a iodine supplement changed my mood dramatically and colloidal silver has kept all the bugs away. Do some exercise and drink purified water. Hang out with your friends more. Hope you feel better soon mate, been there too.

I'd meditate, at least it stops me thinking about stuff I'd rather not
Something I'm going to do now as I can't walk very well and doctor just told me I got Osteoarthritis which has no magic cures

So you really walk up to your wife and ask her to wank you off all day?
    :mates:

    Concerning you mood:
A daily walk in the nature at daylight of 1-1,5 hours is one of the most effective anti-depressants known to man. Seriously.

Go to Bangladesh (very cheap holidays...) and feel how lucky you are.

Looks like you're stuck in that 'cycle'

It usually starts with some physical pain or discomfort ---> you worry about it ---> creates more pain ---> you worry about it ---> pain

You need to break out of that cycle. You need to either get the physical problem treated by a doctor, or stop yourself worrying/feeling depressed. Your mind never rests, if the brain rested you would die, so all you can do is make yourself think about something else to rest it from thinking about stressful things.

    Be well.

Whatever you do, just remember that; your bad mood is like your good ones. They're all temporary.

    here's what i do...

you probably need to kick start your serotonin and dopamine production, essentially giving it a gentle boost... think of this as jump starting a cars battery.

first, i want to stress that i only do this for 2 or 3 days in a row, maximum, then i stop and let my natural brain/body functions take over... you don't want to become dependent on this strategy in order to feel good every day.

Juice one whole lemon in an 8 ounce glass of water when you wake up. Drink it.

    eat something 30-45 mins later.

Shortly after that, take a 5htp pill OR a st. John's wort pill. (Not both at the same time as pointed out by floond) Don't do this for too many days consecutively, or u may become somewhat dependent.

30 mins later take a dose of high potency liquid vitamin b complex

Vitamin C at random times never hurts...

have an espresso in the afternoon.

Drink lotsa fresh spring water after your espresso - right through til bedtime.

Do this for a few days, and you should likely forget what it feels like to be down and depressed....

I am not a doctor. But i am human and have experienced feeling shitty many times in my life and have found the regiment above to be 100% effective for me, every time to get my body back on track.

My post here is meant to share my experiences - not to insult anyone's intelligence or claim that i have the "cure" ... maybe this will help you or others tailor a regiment that works to move past feeling shitty so that you can focus your feel-good energies on making music and being creative to the best of your ability...

    cheers everybody!

I know you mean well mate, but please don't advice people to take 5-htp with St. John's wort. This can cause SS / Serotonin Syndrome, which will only make matters much worse. (http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/5-htp-with-st-john-s-wort-1-10727-2106-0.html). Either/Or is fine though. Also exercise, healthy diet, try to be social even if u don't feel like it, get plenty of rest. Get some sunshine. Know that your audiosex family loves ya.

Just want to throw in here, if you are prescribed antidepressants, you must stay on them or consult your doctor if you are weening off, You can't just take zoloft, etc for a few days and then stop. It takes weeks/months to reach psychotropic levels, and getting off of them should be carefully monitored as it can be dangerous to your mental health for sure.....

    Hope you are feeling better!

Good point. I agree. (I have edited my original post to reflect your important note)

In fact i want to make it a point to say i most certainly stress that i dont want to advise anyone to do anything I mentioned...

... and you are correct about the potential side effects of the 5-htp and st. John's wort... even i fear the potential dangers of these possible side effects. Which is why i only take it 1-3 days in a row, very, very seldomly, rather than the recommend 3 weeks, daily usually listed on the bottle...

Floond is right to call me out on that everybody - on that note, be careful with your mind's and bodies everyone... everybody is different... balance, moderation and observation is the key.

Certainly not intending on imposing or offending anyone - cheers.

And yet everyday people with arms, legs, food and shelter slip through the cracks.

Since this is a music forum I think that music is the best advice and one of the greatest "go-to tools" in your arsenal. Might be the perfect time for a dirty Industrial number, very cathartic. Or maybe you can do some dark cinematic stuff, that's always fun. Do something musically that you've never done or find a new direction in genres that you usually produce. I hear you man, sometimes life can really beat you down. The only way out is through. Hang in there brother. :mates:

Take a break. Go for a walk alone or with someone you really like to be with (wife, girlfriend, best friend). Play video games if you're into it (GTA Online Heists bruuhh)

I guess the secret is just do stuff that you want and need to do but you keep telling yourself you don't feel like doing it at all.

Trust me, do something of what any of us said and you'll start feeling better, maybe not in the moment, but if you keep doing different stuff at least once a week you'll end up feeling a lot better

And just to show you that you're not alone you should know that I've talked to countless others that are going through some pretty horrific shit. We've even lost some good people along the way. One of the hardest parts of this job for me because I'm not the kind of person that can just leave that kind of stuff at work and I feel for a lot of these people and can personally relate in a lot of ways. What else is there to do but press on in the best way that one can? If anything life is about playing the hand that you're dealt because in any situation there are things we can do. There's a good saying, it loosely translates to: having a good face during a bad game. I'm sure you're familiar with it.

    well said Cat.

and it takes some balls for someone to come out and say they are having a rough time of it, especially in a rabid dog environment like this place can be at times. You are not alone buddy, hope you know that, and hope you know that it's not taken lightly. The sun will come up tomorrow.

Hey Nik, I think you're a little depressed. It's really common in this crazy world, I also suffer it.
    What you can do:
Exercise (after exercise you will feel more lively & powerfull)
Listen to music & dance (Try proggressive house or music made for party, I also like fast music like punk rock)
Watch comedy series/movies (Recomendations: The Office, Trailer Park Boys) also prank videos like this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0zB8g5PzAA)
    Going outside for a walk
If you don't feel better in a few days, you should consider going to the doctor.
    Take care!!

One reason, I know you mean well but don't you think that if it were that simple, depression and similar symptoms would be eradicated?
It's kinda like telling someone who injured their back to just keep lifting.
I know from experience. There are however strategies and thought exercises you can do to move in that direction.

The best thing I ever did was see a shrink and educate myself.

Google helpful and unhelpful thought patterns. If you can train yourself to still to the helpful kind you'll be better off.
    http://media.psychology.tools/Worksheets/English/Unhelpful_Thinking_Styles.pdf
    http://www.livingwell.org.au/well-being/unhelpful-thinking-patterns/

I often record musical ideas on my phone if i'm out.
I started to talk to myself and record that too and it was amazing the negative shit I said to myself.
Now it's easier to recognise the unhelpful patterns and avoid the depression cycle.

and yeah exercise is hugely beneficial. especially regular sex.
apparently though for men it needs to be emotional rather than just a root.

    hope this helps,

p.s. check out jim jeffries destroying a heckler at his show.
