Right now I use Studio One and I'm happy with it but I was just curious if any of you uses DP on the Windows platform?

If yes, can you share your impressions: What are the advantages (if any) to any other PC DAW? How hard is it to learn? No issues with the VSTi stuff?

83 views and no answer: Shall I understand that nobody in this forum uses this DAW?

I feel like their name choice is hurting them.

You know how you go to the super market at next to the Cheerios there's a generic copy with some horseshit name like Wheat Rings? That's what Digital Performer makes me think of.

I can't comment on windows format but you can check out the Motunation forum for DP comments as they now have windows section for users . I find hard to believe there is no sub forum for DP in the DAWS section here . I use it on Mac and find it the best thing out there and miles ahead of most, having been one of the first DAWs out there and has been around 30 years.

There are many features implemented years ago that some of the newer daws are just adding now. I found it to be pretty intuitive and has been my DAW of choice for almost 15 years now after Opcode's Studio Vision (another DAW ahead of it's time ) got bought up by Gipson and than dumped. I found it to be an easy transition . I could never get my head around Logic and I have PTs but only use when I have to for compatibility.

It's pretty deep program with features but you don't have to use everything there. DP is probably the best thing out there for film scoring but I use it everyday for tracking bands and mixing as well as composing with large orchestral temples with tons of VIs. They do offer full function 30 day demos of it now as well so you can try it out yourself .

Well I'm not an expert or anything but I find DP8 to be pretty cool. I used the demo on Windows till it expired and noticed a few things though.
First off it doesn't work with all hardware. I have a Zoom r24, a Fast Track Ultra 8r, an old Tascam interface, and a couple of guitar pedals that double as interfaces. DP8 only detected the Fast Track Ultra.
Second, I had quite a few crashes using it. Some 3rd party plugins would load sometimes and crash the program other times.
Third, coming from Cubase, there was a lot to learn. But it's an interesting DAW and I'd love to see what the next updates bring.
