Exponential Audio announces Excalibur, the new plugin that sets a new standard for effects processing. Combining delay,
flanger, pitch, distortion and more into a powerful modular architecture, Excalibur gives you millions of combinations.

"Excalibur is the most powerful and flexible effects plug-in you can find!"

During development our testers and previewers have honoured us by comparing Excalibur to many classic studio effects units,
we'll let you decide which ones when you hear it. We think emulation is nice, but we wanted to take that and build on it,
adding all the things you could have never have done with the original hardware units.

We asked those who got to preview Excalibur how they would describe it, they said:

"An audio processing Swiss Army knife."
"Multi effects box of days past."
"The most extensive Multi-FX, all- in-one plug-in available."
    "A Sound designers multi-FX unit."

Imagine a multi-effects unit that works like a modular synth and you're starting to get close to the heart of Excalibur.

Its modular architecture allows you to assemble millions of effects, configured in ways you've only been able to imagine.

"Emulation is nice, but we wanted to take that and build on it, adding all the things you could have never have done with the
    original hardware units

    PLUG-IN FORMATS:

Mac and Windows. 32/64 bit. AAX, AU, VST, VST3, RTAS. Supports sample rates from 44.1k to 384K.

    SYSTEM SPECIFICATION:

Any Intel computer running at 2GHz or above. Multiple cores strongly recommended. Display of at least 1024 x 768. You'll also
need at least 1GB of RAM. These are minimal requirements. Most computers of the last five years have been much more powerful
    than this.

Excalibur is quite efficient and even gives you ways to control the processor load. It automatically stops processing when it's
    not doing anything--in any workstation.

    COST:

$199 US. Other currencies to follow. Watch for special introductory pricing!

    AVAILABILITY:

Excalibur will be available in Spring 2015, just a few weeks away. Watch for announcements. Excalibur is now in the hands of
testies who've already used it in music and television projects.

Lovely, and cheap, too, if I was a Rockefeller. :)

How about this scenario: buy a few guitar pedals for 200 quid and connect them, there you go! I prefer all analogue ones. DSP is for plugins.

Or, download a bkFX bunch of plugins for free, connect them any way you wish and you've just got yourself a multiFX plugin for free. :bleh:

On the more serious side of things, I do like it that some plugin developers are thinking in broader terms than just: I'm gonna make a great delay plugin. I mean with all this processing at our disposal it's a shame that there are not many multiFX plugins. How difficult is to make a combination of chorus+phaser+flanger+vocoder+delay+overdrive+distortion+fuzz plugin that let's you choose the way you chain them? It's bloody ridiculous when I see a plugin that consumes like 50MB of memory only for a freaking delay! [D16 Sigmund] It's not just ridiculous it's bloody preposterous. [/rant] In the late 80s and 90s there were so many great hardware [but primitive DSP] processors that could do that like Roland GP-16 or TC M2000. Why don't they do more of these these days when we really have enough processing at our disposal is beyond me, but not making a behemoth plugin like IK Amplitube is that you can only use sparingly because it needs 100MB or more only for graphics and it just uses too much CPU, even though it sounds excellent. I'm talking a humble, nicely coded, Eventide H3000 type plugin with vector graphics and great sound... dream on. Hasn't happened yet. :( Hoewever, Roger Lynn's Adrenaline II is not bad, but not that versatile.

    Cheers! :mates:
