    Bass from 1:01 - 1:28

    Acid pluck from 1:28 - 2:24

Basically struggling to find the midi pattern of the layers for the bass and I have no idea where to start with the heavy 1/4 bass notes how is the sound so punchy and dirty with so much movement?

As for the acid pluck, how does program it similar in an arp/sequencer? I can get a similar sound but I can't seem to find the pattern. What automation/modulation is used to make the last notes sound higher?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

    Hi AB69,

I tried to remake the distorted bass you hear starting from 1:01, with Spire.

Let me know if you find this sound usable so i can send you the preset.

    Have a great day!

That's damn close I'd say. I think there is a small amount pitch mod in the attack phase. But it's great anyway. I'd like to have a look at that preset. You can never learn enough in terms of sound synthesis!

Yes, there's a pitch-envelope in it. I added it to make it more organic, although is just a bassline. There's no rules, but if his wish is to sound exactly as that artist, i can't help in that regard. :( It's cool to experiment with some similar sounds sometimes, but hiding in the shadow of a particular artist, is not something i would personally chase.

    This is the preset:

Go ahead and tweak/experiment with it. :mates:

seems like at least 2 layers of basses

layer 1 : sounds like an arpegiato : accent or notes on last 2 1/16 of each beat like below

    | . . x x . . x x . . x x . . x x |

layer 2 : 1 note held but with pitch bend 1 octave : up for last 1/8 of bar 1 & down for last 1/8 of bar 2 and repeat

    [ 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 down | 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 up ]

I feel you about standing in the shadows. Me, I would never try to get the exact same sound. I am more interested in creating/achieving certain sounds NOT the exact same sounds just the technique used. Thanks for the patch. I produce Hip-Hop so it is not suited for me anyway, but I like to have a look to see if it is done like I thought it is done.
