Just heard a cover version of one of my favorite tracks and that reminds me I always wanted to know what they used for the bass sequence and what kind of drummachine. In these days I also like to know what VSTi can be used. Maybe some Simmon Drums and PPG for the bass? What do you think?

Here is the Clip (I choose to post the cover version because bass and drums are similar to the original track but they have more presence):

At 4:33 min you can hear them without voices.

Hmm, you mean I should buy a few vintage synths?

I just found a gear list Depeche used at that album:

    ARP 2600 w/sequencer
    Roland MC-4
    Korg KR-55
    Roland TR-808
    Moog source
    RSF kobol (expander)
    Roland Jupiter-8
    PPG Wave 2
    Roland Promars (unsure)

Hmm, I just found a live clip of Depeche Modes 1982 Tour (release year of "A Broken Frame") and I think Fletch is playing the Moog Source for the bassline...What do you think?

Here is the scene (its very short!)

And here is a picture of the Moog Source...looks similar to me?!

I think a lot of the drum sounds came from the ARP 2600

just found this for the original, might be worth seeing if these patches will also work with the vst
