    He guys,

Could somebody help me installing omnisphere ?
I have read the download thread but it al seems confusing to me what i should do
What order do i need to install the updates ? Only latest ?
What order should i install the soundsource, patch library etc..

    Same for Kontakt 5..
First i need to install 5.2. and then the latest update 5.4 ?
Are there anythings i need to keep in mind installing Kontakt?

Would really appreciate if sombody could help me out, since i finally have a decent laptop to run kontakt & omnisphere on.
I've read the threads and did some searching and also checked the info files, but it remains a bit confusing to me because you read alot of conflicting things in the threads. Some say only use latest update others say u need more updates etc..

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers,

    garageraver

basic installation then latest update should be enough.
you might want to install your libraries on a external hard drive unless your laptop has loads of space.

Are you running Windows or OSX? It really shouldn't matter as I am pretty sure the procedure is the same.

Omnisphere - install from the disc images + the latest update + run keygen (follow the instructions). Then you are set. Its been a long time since I installed it but I don't recall there being any special order to install the updates (Omnisphere Software Update, Omnisphere Patch Library Update, Omnisphere Soundsource Library Update and VIP Patch Library Update). Since you are going for the latest version you should have no problems installing the Bob Moog Tribute Library (1.0 = main at 2.4GB + 1.1 update at 7MB for OSX).

Kontakt - all you really need to do, if you only want Kontakt, is install it from the Komplete disc images (with its Library if you desire) + update to the version you want. Then you're ready to roll.

Alternatively if you only want Kontakt 5 and no NI Library then find the latest Kontakt 5 (full version not player) install, apply patches and you are set.

If you search the forum, I know you said you did, there are at least 3 or more topics on Omnisphere installation + the order of updates here.

The conflicting info you are referring to regarding Omnisphere in the threads has to do with some folks saying you need to install all the updates in order (example: 1.5.6d, 1.5.7d 1.5.8d). That is wrong information - you do not - you only need to install the latest update as that has all the previous updates rolled into it. That's what I did and I have it working perfectly and the same is true of Kontakt (except that I installed Komplete Ultimate and only selected what I needed).

I hope that helps you out and good luck!!!

Question for you: I know this has nothing to do with what you asked for but I thought I would go the extra mile. Have you considered installing Spectrasonics Trilian (bass)? It has awesome integration with Omnisphere. From my experience it is one of the best bass virtual instruments around. Spectrasonics did a great job with it. Check it out on YouTube. I have a few other bass libraries in Kontakt that are also very convincing as far as bass goes. The Scarbee bass libraries for Kontakt comes to mind. Scarbee really did a wonderful job with them and the key switches for phrasing. Vir2 Instruments BASiS is also very good as is the Chris Hein Bass (both are for Kontakt).

Note: My own personal observation's. Omnisphere f'ing rocks - I am always finding and learning new things that I can do with it. I think its one of the best soft synths ever made. Kontakt also rocks, I don't have all the libraries installed, only what I needed but its fantastic.

Thank for takin your time to answer my question dude. much appreciated.
Im running WIN7 btw i shoudl have mentioned it earlier.

I will do another search and read again although your info about the way to install OMNI is quite clear. main install = latest updates & soundsource etc..
once again thank for helping a brother out.

Kontakt: i have the factory Library do i need to install that first ? and later the kontakt it self ?
The only thing unclear to me now is wich kontakt is the full installer ? kontakt 5.2.1 and then the latest update 5.4.2 ?

Yes i have tried trillian before BigEmptySKY:
I had it installed accidently deleted my vst folder.
So i thought i had to reinstall trillian again.. wich ended up in a nightmare. I Could not get it to work again. It was missing some files from the soundsource.. a real pain in the ass.
Now i formatted hard drive and bought an ssd Hopefully i can get omni and trillian both on the ssd.

anyway thanks again for answering my question

    Have a good one

I installed Kontakt 5 from a Komplete Ultimate disc image. When I installed it I selected the option to install the factory library along with Kontakt. So they got installed at the same time. The only thing I did differently is what most folks end up doing - I installed all the libraries to an external HD. So I pointed the installer to my one of my external HD's. I pretty much installed most of what was on the Komplete Ultimate disc image minus some libraries I had no interest in.

Kontakt "full" versus "player" - all you need to do is read on AudioZ (mods, I hope I can say that here, if not please let me know and I will edit that out) the info for which version you are going for. Hint: R2R always posts the "full" k'ed version with instructions they don't post the player (as its free). Also look at the size of Kontakt 5.2.1 versus 5.4.2 if they are about the same then I would say it's the full version. I am not running the current version so I can't really comment on that.

With your new SSD you should have zero problems installing Trilian, or any other apps + plugins, as you are in effect starting from scratch.

    Good luck!
