I have a question. I'm more and more considering buying some of spitfire audio's stuff, especially since they started offering bundle deals (finally!).

I'm not a professional composer and I don't make money from my work, It's just a hobby of mine. Hence I have no interest in paying a 20% VAT which I can't deduct on libraries which are already enough expensive as they are.

On the checkout page, I can pick "US" as country and then the VAT disappears. My question is this:

Could they ask me for the VAT after the fact ? Like, could they see that the credit card is in fact european and demand that I pay it afterwards ? I'm pretty sure I could get away with it with no issues but I just want to make sure.

 

simple answer, yes, you may even get clobbered with import duty as well

you would need to use a card with a USA billing address

 

Thanks for the heads up. I guess my purchases will have to wait a little longer

 

I'm living in European VAT exempt zone, and even so, most of the time I have to pay VAT because the payment platform do not take this in account

 

The only value in VAT is for the UK government, no value to the customer.
