Urs Heckmann of u-he has posted a screenshot & sound clips of the upcoming
Hive synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

Urs says: “We’re still working on a lot of details, but this picture might illustrate the rough concept

While all of u-he's previous synths found homes working in the world of dance music production,
Hive was created specifically with dance music producers in mind.

The single page streamlined interface is packed with features and options to help you get your sound
just right (or wrong in just the right way).
Best of all, Hive uses very little CPU. The screenshot uses none at all.

Urs says: "Here's a quick sequence noodling with just one osc/sub/filter and some filter/resonance modulation
tweaking with a 12dB lowpass to unveil character and show how it doesn't fall apart."

(starts very quiet, becomes louder towards the middle)

A couple additional sound clips can be found HERE and HERE. (Thanks ArticStorm!)
    And another HERE.

Hive is currently in private beta.

"Ultra low CPU usage" well that's something new for u-He since all their synths are total CPU killers.

Lots of bizzy bees are working
they can smell their honey pot,
we should call our presets flowers instead
then all the bees they went to bed. :)

Oh what a bizzie bees you are
the bear said with a smile,
and while they slept the bear did sneek
and cr@cked there plugin in a week, :wow:

The king and queen were not surprised
oh yes they had a big surprise
for when the bear when to the pot
the flowers closed the plugin stoped, *yes*

wtf said the poor bear i only cr@cked it once to share,
and all the bees they worked away
knowing all there jobs would stay.

    altho.. as usual...seemingly over complex.

Yeah really nice UI. Only thing I don't like is the V in the logo :bleh:
U-He knows how to make sexy GUIs. Ahah comes to my mind RobPapen RAW UI preview. Worst design in years for a commercial plug imho.

yeah looks over complex but this time they put all parameters on main view, no separate panels for FX-ARP-Matrix.
Looking forward, public beta should be out before new year afaik. *yes*

Complete BS. I bet you don't even know "all their synths".

Ever heard of Zebra, Zebralette or Tyrell?

It highly depends on oversampling settings, what is used in the specific patch and machine power.
But with nowadays machines nothing insane to me. yeah, they can get quite heavy on CPU if you use max quality settings,
but well worth the CPU hit for the result.

That should of course go without saying.

It's much more interesting how a synth compares to other synths CPU wise. If synth A does a sound with 10% CPU, and B the (almost) exact same sound with 50%, then you could say that B is a CPU hog.

I know that Diva and Ace are CPU hogs, but Zebra definitively not.

That's what happen when you use state of the art filters and oversampling and don't make any compromise.
Zebra is great and not so heavy indeed. Can't wait for Z3 next year ! :mates:
