You can do whatever you want there :)

I keep it simple when doing the mixdown.

    everybus has

    Eq
    compression

    maybe some saturation/distortion if needed.

    reverb/delay if needed.

note, I've already done all the sounddesign before the mixdown, so i dont really need to do much more work. Just creating a overall balance between the elements and clean up and enchance certen sounds)

peope say you need to do over 200 mixes, before you are any good. I dont know about that, I just know that after evey mix i do, i get better and my ears get better at listning :)

    enjoy.

You can only use effects. ONLY. It's harsh, but I need to narrow it down to JUST that.

There are about 32481 effects out there atm.

You can use all sorts of compression on busses. From a regular compressor or multiband, to EQ and saturation or distortion. Maybe combine them when it sounds better.
Just use very small amounts and don't make things louder. When you A/B the effects and think it's sound ok, then beter try them effects in parallel.
The effects from your daw that is..

    drum bus : cla76
    vocals bus: cla2a

    auxchannels : 3reverbs (ambient/room/hall), 2 delays(short/long ping pong), 1 "analog" aux(my fav, to warm,fatten things up) : satin, kramer tape or j37.

never mix and master in the same project. mix until it sounds smashing, export, drop the master fader to -15db, NO FX on the master !!

Look it its like Tatoos Signing or any other Born Talent God gave you, Either you got it or you Don't Those pros who give advise Ect.. just pulling shit out there ass Use your strongest Weapon Your Ears
best way is getting the best possible takes when recording, then when mixing you shouldn't have to do a lot, Some people settle with Shitty takes/ Tracks and then try to clean the mix with that t hat s the wrong way to Finalize

    This thread is so great.
Dynamics processors are effects! Reverb/Delay as inserts! Drop the masterfader to -15 dB!
You learn something new every day.

Hey Mate, Some peoples tell me that don't touch the master fader while u mix...set it to 0.00 db...adjust volume knobs by your individual tracks.

And they are right. My post was pure sarcasm! If you have to touch the masterfader to prevent clipping or else you're doing it wrong. Simple as that.
