Im moving house on the 6th of December and my isp is not sure if i can get internet in my new house so i may have to resort to vodem sticks ($80 5gb) witch i would be a idiot to download alot with. So my question is: What downloads would you recommend i get , sample packs, tutorials, software etc before i move? and yes i know this going to be a biased thread but im still hoping for some ideas.

Yea already done that, Great minds and all lol Na im just joking.

Well it will have a phone line but it's out in the country so they haven't bothered upgrading it so they cant say if i can get internet. Right now im on a standard ADSL line with a bad congestion problem (70kbs - 150kbs download in day and 200kbs from 12 am at night lol) if i can get internet at the next house it will only be ADSL as well. "Cable" Thats a foreign word to me lol

I would go for Instruments & Tutorials. ... it`s so oversaturated, anyway ...
Reaktor, Kontakt & Synth`s. As "go to" Sampler I`m using Maschine and Plugins ... you don`t want a list ... but these for shure Ozone (+ RX), Fabfilter, 2C Audio,
    Soundtoys, etc.
About Sample Packs I´m "picky", difficult to name brands in general, some from: ISR, Samplephonics, Twisted Tools Stuff (all of it), BFA.
I look rather for freebies & packs that aren`t widely used by "everybody" and Kontakt brings endless "Samples" with it .... In your place I would take the chance to really sort "out", guess you got more then enough on your drives, already?

I would SERIOUSLY take a positive from this negative and not DL anything!!! :wow:

Just before you start calling me `orrible names and throwing obscenities my way, allow me to explain. We all know we have, thanks to our great community of crackers, sharers and MODS, an excessive amount of music making stuff. I have tuts on my slave drive from 2 years ago that I`v still not got around to watching! Kontakt libs? I shit `em! Sample packs? Way too many to ever even hear let alone use. Same story for FX, processors and instruments.

Now, I don`t know whether you have hoarded stuff, but, I kinda think you probably have, so why not just learn, use and explore that which you do have. There is a school of thought that thinks that minimal resources can lead to the best results. It is so easy to drown in new toys and never actually end up doing/making anything.

So, that would be my tuppence worth. Treat the restriction as an opportunity and worry not about your DL speeds, worry about the UL speeds cus you are gonna be submitting shed loads of FINISHED tracks to this fine sites "Our Music" section for your fellow Sex`ers listening pleasures.

    Or....

Just go fookin mental on torrents and grab every damn thing! :phones:

I tend to lean towards Pilzy's viewpoint. I'm sure you have so much stuff that it would take you years just to sort through it all. I say peruse the archives, filter your results, check out rating and user feedback and just pick up whatever you feel you're missing for what you want to make. There's also an essential section but you likely have everything from there already. Also keep in mind that some newer versions may have superseded what's in there because I have to update the section every time a new version is released of something and I'm often busy.

Yeah I share Pilzy's view too. The more you have the less you use, and the less you do with them. Download one good sample pack and use only your DAW for plugins for a while and see if that doesn't boost your productivity 1000%.

So this would be my list

    - Sylenth 1
    - Your DAW
    - One of the vengeance sample packs (or any sample pack you want)

    That's it

Thank you to every one for their replys

100% agree with you and thats the outlook i have on things. I literly have 10 Kontakt libraries (14Gb) I have 15 Gb in samples and not many plugins installed (2C-Audio, Fab Filter,SoundToys,SSL Plugins, Lexicon, Sonalksis, ToneBoosters, Voxengo SPAN,Abbeyroadplugins,IK Multimedia,Plugin Alliance & iZotope ) and for Instruments (Ni Massive, Ni kontakt, XLN Audio Addictive Keys, Sylenth 1, Xfer Serum, Camel Audio Alchemy 1,IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonik) and yes i know thats still heaps but not as bad as some people.I do admit i horde tutorials though (52.9 Gb :()

    Thanks for the suggestions sideshowbob.

Thanks for the suggestions Catalyst, I think i need to delete all the plugins i barely use and use more of the DAW plugins like faud said, I just think i dont have enough samples or kontakt libs for when i attempt to make different genres but suppose many people do it with less then what i have.

Thanks for the idea faud. I think it will be hard saying goodbye to lexicon and soundtoys and the FabFilter eq but i will give it ago anyway as in the long run it should help me out.

Wow, that is really bad. I would never move to a place where I don't have highspeed internet. On the other hand, moving to your country is something that my wife and I discuss quite often lately :)
Aren't there rural wireless broadband initiatives at your place? Like

I checked out some of the potions above and they cant tel me if i can get it iva. I could go for satellite internet and get awesome speed but that's $50 for 1gb and a $299 setup fee so the price aint worth it. New Zealand is a beautiful country but if you want really fast internet then you have to live in a town or city. I presume it's like that in other countrys? In saying that it's not like this at all rural locations but you defenlty wont be getting VDSL if you live rural.
Got all the presets off AudioZ, just got 2 more (5gb) parts to download for omnisphere.
