Greets audio lovers, this is my first post here i'm looking for a little help!

What program for mac can i use to convert any other format like akai,kontakt,or giga to the mv 8800 format?

Also where could i find the factory cd's for the unit? I bought it off eBay use.

I have an MV-8800 also. It's a great unit.

It will load Akai CD-ROMs directly. For Kontakt and Giga, you're probably better off converting those to .wav, then loading the .wav files into the MV.

If you believe that, then show me a better tool to build Compatible and actually working AKAI CD images.
It's not perfect but I have used CS translator several times to build Akai CDs from Kontakt 3.5 patches and although I had to convert to an intermediate format first, it *did* work well in the end.
You have to be patient however, it usually involves some trial and error hassle.

It's a few years ago, but as far as I remember my workflow went like this:
Create everything in Kontakt 3.5 and save in uncompressed, non-monolithic nki+wav format
=> Extreme Sample Converter converts to SoundFont (Awave Studio may be able to do this too)
=> CS Translator converts to AKAI CD image

you can burn this image on a CD and load it in hardware samplers, worked for me on E-MU EOS3 samplers and Roland S-series so most likely it will work on the Mv8800 as well.

But before going this way I'd first try to convert the source material to Akai MPC .pgm and .snd formats. Extreme Sample Converter will do this.

Important side note: Sample format converters will only read kontakt programs written with a Kontakt version below 4.2.0.
Starting with v4.2.0, Kontakt nki are encrypted and cannot be read by 3rd party converters.
Also, if you load an old program in Kontakt version >4.2 and re-save it without making a backup copy before, you've irreversibly shot yourself in the foot, so to say.
I have two versions of Kontakt running just for that reason.
