About
Sami Matar was born into a culture which afforded him the inheritance of a rich diversity of musical influences. His musical career began at the age of 5, playing the piano and involved a study and memorization of very complex classic Arabic standards, from Egypt, Syria and Jordan. Very soon he participated in numerous competitions and with his outstanding aptitude went on win a substantial number of them. By the age of 11 he began focusing his studies on advanced classes in classical theory. He went on to finish his training in classical theory at the age of 14. By then he was considered by his tutors as somewhat of a prodigy in classical composition and arrangement.Following youthful influences and being exposed and receptive to his environment, around the age of 15 he developed a more focused interest in hip hop and jazz music. Matar moved to California in 1998 to persue his passion for music and by 17 he used his extensive knowledge and background in classical composition to produce his first hip hop album, exuding relatively high production value and distinct quality vocal performances.<br />
<br />
From here on – till the age of 19, he demonstrated a thirst and capacity for accomplishment, producing over 40 tracks for numerous artists in hip hop, R&B and also Rock genres. At this point he formed a multi-genre record label called “The Commission Records”.<br />
<br />
Not neglecting his passion for classical music, by 20 he was able to complete his first movement, composed for a full orchestra. The unique piece, lasting over 100 minutes is entitled ‘Gemini’. Around this time his career began to emerge in a new light when a combination of raw talent, meticulous work ethic and a savvy tech skills attracted more attention and propelled him into working with established artists in various genres; including Meech Wells, Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Soluna, Eddie Shade and The Black Eye Peas to name a few.<br />

Since then, Matar has been in Southern California dedicated to his passion for music and continued to refine his skills in composition, production and arrangement. Over the years, Matar also became well known in the music industry (namely pop and hiphop) for his exceptional abililties to develop and produce artists in many different genres.<br />
<br />
In 2009, Matar and his brother launched a radio station called One Legacy Radio. The station is founded by American youth to provide daily insight and discussion on topics of spirituality, relationships, parenting, politics, civil rights, fitness, health and of course the arts. OLR introduces a new, dynamic format for dialogue and education, which aims to benefit humanity at large. Executed with exceptional production value featuring all original orchestral show themes, commercial music and station ID’s. The station was only 4 months old when it received world wide attention and acclaim for its high quality content, garnering universally positive reviews by large media outlets like the OCRegister, LA Times and Al-Jazeera to name a few.<br />

In 2010, Matar focused his efforts on his life long passion for soundtrack composition and production. He went on to score, arrange and produce music for many titles released on the PC, Xbox360 and PS3 video game consoles. In the same year, Matar was exclusively commissioned by platinum producer Steve Morales to once again captivate the pop and hip-hop industries. Producing one of three FIFA 2010 World Cup singles, featuring lead vocalist Kelly Rowland. By the end of the year, Matar added an impressive line up of world class artists to the repertoire; Main stream powerhouse entertainers like Rick Ross and Nicole Scherzinger to name a few.<br />

In 2011, Matar particaptaed in raising awareness for social and political issues effecting the current global climate, namely the revolutions taking place in the middle east region. Matar’s first production of the year titled “Jan25″ quickly became a viral hit. Garnering immediate worldwide acclaim, the song was featured by major media outlets like MTV, CNN, Vibe and Complex to name a few. Works to be released this year include clients like Sony, BioWare, Freeway, Omar Offendum and Amir Sulaiman to name a few.<br />
<br />
Matar has been recording and producing in his recording studio for almost a decade, which adds a very rare and veteran element to his craft. In turn, he has been able to create and develop a very unique and sought after sound. By late 2011, Matar continued to elevate his composition and production talents to new levels; Expanding the tools of his Southern California production studio with industry-changing technology, and custom orchestral templates recorded exclusively in the live room of his studio. All which help in complimenting his one of a kind writing and production style.<br />
<br />
So far in 2012, Matar has once again been featured on major new media outlets for beginning the year with the release of “#Syria”, a song dedicated to the people of Syria with his artist Omar Offendum. He also has continued to build his scoring/soundtrack repertoire for film and video game music. Producing works for video games such as Desert Tycoon, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 3 along with high profile TV and Internet commercials.<br />
<br />
Now at the age of 29, Matar is only getting started. He continues to add high profile works to his reptoire. Always with an eye to the future, with his established and sought after resume, Sami Matar relentlessly endeavors to create and produce his best work to date….Interact
