I am not a computer whiz. They have not always been part of my world like for younger people here. And I remember the seeing the 1st studio digital audio device(Eventide Harmonizer. Dinosaurs used it). I have a question and a couple observations. I think I am being played by someone that is not what they appear to be. Bunch of red flags. How do I tell if someone is masking their identity through TOR or something similar? :dunno:-- Observations:I know most people here like their anonymity. I don't really care. I am in the self promotion business and am trying to build my fan base however I can. I use my stage name most places I use to build a bigger search engine footprint and spread spider webs. I don't have anything in accounts worthy of theft, and if somebody wants my ID...good luck with that. Whether it's government snoops or run of the mill weasels, I'm just not worthy of anybody's attention. I use social media and free sites like SoundCloud, MySpace, ReverbNation, etc. to spread myself like a bus station whore. Play at Chess.com? "Who the hell is AllenLeeGeddes?". That's how I approach it, anyway. I know some here disdain social media and I understand why, but I have found that Google+ has gotten me more song hits, interest in my other sites, and what I do, than just about anything else I have tried. Seems more international, also. It also has some amazing free features, some free cloud storage, and access to beta apps for people who are into that sort of thing. I use Chrome most of the time anyway, so I'm pretty sure Google owns most of my soul. Help with TOR question and any comments welcome. :mates:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "being played" but you can check the IP adresses above and see if you have any visits from any of those (if it's in a site/platform where you can see visitor information). Other than that, I don't think you can really do anything. Even if they are not using TOR, I don't know what you expect to find out about them...

About the "something else", dunno... Some "who is" databases will tell you if the IP is from known proxies-VPNs.

Just want to know if they are who they say they are. I believe the term is "phishing". They may be playing me like a fish. Not sure about the bait, and the catch would be "small fry". I'm going to have to post links to USA English Slang, Irony, and warped sense of humor. Not sure how it translates sometimes, sorry. :mates: But hey, Catalyst! The English have some of the most creative slang, you talk like a lorry load of bleedin' wankers. But I have read that you can swear better in Portuguese than any language. I love a woman who can talk dirty in Potuguese.

It has to be Portuguese, nothing else is valid?
I mean swearing in Mandarin or talking dirty in Mongolian could do as well. Im sure that it might sound very interesting in terms of pitch :)

Rolma, good to see you. Portuguese just sounds pleasant to my ears, even if I understand pouco. I am very fond of Brazillian jazz, samba. And careful, nice lady. I am a shameless flirt, but respectful. I think women should rule the world, and I put them on the pedestal where they belong.

On the subject of Tor it was just found that a Tor exit node was adding malware to binaries as they went across to their destination. How fucked is that? That's why I understand the need for anonymous services but at the same time I also realize that there are plenty of cowards that hide behind them. How is this helpful? Why it's part of my compendium of completely useless facts and I just thought I'd share it with you.

    It`s a lot of confusion around ...
So called intruders/attackers are usually bots, the idea of a single individual behind a screen running an attack manually is rather exceptional, nowadays.
Tor Browser is just a client, without understanding the basics of the Network (relays, bridges, nodes) it, most likely, will bring trouble instead of relieve.
Same for the use of Anonymous Proxies for "safer surfing", the free ones are almost useless. In exchange for service(s) and/or bitcoin "custom made" proxies that can be configured could be an option, depending on what one is up to.
Privacy/Security demands time ... to think about, to set it up and test it, every offer pledging to have the instant solution can be considered as sell-out.
For the most of us this subject is too big, we have scheduled lifes and want to work with audio/video as often as possible and, probably, some of us relax/sleep to little. It would just take all the "headroom" away, to really dive into it. Usually people refer to privacy as something very personal, what it is ... for everybody...
We really need to talk about it, share information and post recent developments we`re aware about, at least.
A matter of fundamental importance is approached best calm and patient, the Chinese say.
The strength of community can get us there without becoming absorbed.
To pretend there`s no need to be personally concerned isn`t a "choice", it`s denial, rather sooner then later the "nightmare" will get each single one of us.
    Exaggerating? Check the news.

If you're using TOR, you're probably targeted by NSA or similar criminals. And besides that, "anonymity does not guarantee security".

The easiest way: by IP. You need to have it though.
And try thinking outside the box.
