Who remembers Cubase? And given a pile of money, which young person would even consider it? They will buy what they know.

It was proven a long time ago that graphics professionals favoured Photoshop, as they were familiar with it from using cracked versions in their younger days.

I like this part the best.
So many manufacturers are in it mostly for the money instead of trying to build exceptional products.
I still think there is much room for new products if they managed to get rid of classic "business case thinking".

Hats off to Ableton for keeping their open-minded attitude although they have grown quite a bit in the past years.

thats what i say, piracy works well for vsts, audios apps, but fails on soundsets and sample packs.
so in oder words, ableton admits the piraciy is good for spreading ableton live.

Ableton Live/Suite is not outlandish expensive? *cough* *cough*
they charge with over 200€ on an update to a new major version. Ableton Suite comes for 599€ to you. *cough*

when they will change their update fees, i will consider to buy it.

When you are making money from music it becomes a tax deductible business expense, and Ableton will be very pleased to continue their relationship with you, albeit on a more legal footing

yes it reminded me on martin garrix as he did that tutorial with CM or FM, dont remember, well after that izotope and FL started to advertise with him and claiming he was long time buyer, but he had not even money to buy sylenth1, so i dont think hought the other 2 products too.

sure ableton is a major sponsor for dubspot for example and also give lots of copies to smaller audio schools.

But in the end, they are to expensive, when i imagine what IL is charging for all the goodies and then lifetime free upgrades. :dunno:

I can only think his business must have been cash-in-hand then, otherwise the tax man would have got the money :break:

Another good thing, bailiffs can't seize your 'work tools' if you are properly registered as a business or self employed :bleh:
