Hey there guys, anyone have an idea on wich phaser i should use to give my 808-hats this type of phasing effect? The hats also sounds very clean high-fi and saturated, I tried ubhik and fruity phaser but it isn't really working out, (edit: it seems zippyshare kinda lowers the quality after uploading, The quality does stay equal if you download the mp3)

It's also possible that the producer didn't even use a single phaser, could also be the natural sound of the hihat when he place them next to eachother in a rapid tempo, it does sound kinda phased though

No phaser as I hear it. Try a (filtered) delay.

    Or...

Loop the hi-hat or shaker sample. Set loop to nice loop length. Adjust amp decay (ADSR) to taste. Add a highpass cutoff filter envelope, that sweeps up (in frequency) as the sound progresses to loop. Adjust envelope ADSR to taste.
I just grabbed a sample and played around with it:

Then the usual 808 kicks and snares.

you just ended over 6 months of brainstorming. What you just did with your sample is exactly what i was looking for! I appreciate this alot thank you for the effort, i've heard this other guy use this method on his hi-hats in one of his beats but he didn't want to tell me how to do it :dunno: .

you did the whole thing live with your knobs and the filter envelope during the recording process? Pretty cool that you knew how to do this and just redid it

Yeah, it's pretty easy to desect the sound when you know the tools and the ingrediences. Glad it worked out.

Yes, I did export/render in realtime in a free software called Jeskola Buzz (tracker). Turning knobs (amp and envelope ADSR, loop length, sample pitch, etc) and playing a midi controller. Great for further processing the result in a sampler or on the DAW timeline.
