Your comment is off topic but let's talk through it anyway: What happens when everyone takes free beer? There's no more free beer. How is that not common sense? That if at least some people don't pay then there will be no infrastructure to support the wanton downloading habits of the masses? Do you know why a lot of sites went private? Too many leeches on the FTPs and nobody paying to support them. There's your free right there. Free for you but somebody has to pay. Look at practically any popular torrent: 10 seeders 10 million leechers. That is not a sustainable system for a cyberlocker. *no*

Hey luke what was the last file you uploaded? Yeah exactly. Free is free is the mantra of people that never contribute. I've seen it a million times before. Releasers use money earned from downloads to buy more software. Ask Organ1c, ask HEXWARS, ask SYNTHiC4TE. Cyberlockers use money to pay for infrastructure. Nobody is saying you have to pay...you can get it free but accept that you get what you pay for which might not be as lightning fast as paid options. That's your free.

 

Hmm the mod of Audioz and here is the same... so.... If you have a problem there you'll likely have it here. And I repeat... if YOU have a problem.

Anyway, about your subject:

Well, that's not true. Several posters that use UL and RG are the groups themselves, so groups choose to spread their releases that way.

R2R know that their releases are spread that way too, otherwise they would choose another method, or pre in oficial 0day scene.

If you're so concerned about the freedom of the scene, I urge to post your own FTP address with all the releases, publicly, so everyone can enjoy it.

 

Could this argument also apply to the developers of the software you are illegally downloading and sharing?

 

Sure and that's why I'm working to get a better balance in release times so that they won't be quite so affected. That's why I was so pissed that Serum was "cracked" early when the teams where trying to release on Christmas. It's why we went on strike too. Also why we have a rule that if a product is announced or just released there should be no requests for it. That's besides the fact that I am actually a customer of quite a few developers and buy a lot of what I use extensively.

Luckily there are several people here, like me, that use warez releases as a way of evaluating the product, and if it's worth it, pay for it.

I have done it several times. And I could paste a list of people that do it too.

And that's only about the people in here, there are several people that never use warez and go straight to the online shop.

People that never pay for what they use are likely collectors, not music makers, and they probably wouldn't pay for that product even if it cost 1 buck.
