I don't know about the MIDI compatibility but they should be 64 bit now. They were working on that even during the version 4 release cycle.

If you're referring to the MIDI sync issue, it was addressed last month in v4.4.3

64 Bit - not sure about the midi

I will be buying it for the 64 bit and the laws of deduction the price cant be more than $495 (the price of version 4) as the website says -
Soundtoys Native Effects bundles purchased after Oct 1st 2014 will receive a free upgrade to Soundtoys 5

So if they were gonna charge more than $495 then all you would need to do was buy Soundtoys 4 for $495 and get the free upgrade :)

Now that there's soft iLok option one could possibly give it a thought. But it would be better if they dropped iLok completely because if you have Syncrosoft and iLok together, weird stuff can happen. Sometimes involving reinstalling the whole OS. One of my clients had bad experiences with that in the past, so he just had to drop iLok plugins because he needs Cubase and some other Steinberg products that use Syncrosoft.

If you ask me, all these extreme protections are just pain in the arse, especially for the guys like me who have to find solutions to make them work together if they don't, and that's really hard, especially when you have to tell your client "look, they just don't seem to work together. You'll have to drop one or the other..."

But having to use even one dongle is one dongle too much, in my book. It's just too much nuisance using plugins that have to use a dongle to work. :snuffy: That's one of the reasons why I dropped Cubase years ago in favour of Reaper, cause I can just download Reaper and use it straight away wherever I go. I even don't have to carry it with me. *yes*

No software that uses such draconian protections is worth the hassle, IMO. Because you always have to think about the protection and there are soooo many other good plugins to think about, too... So it's a big PITA having to think about all these protections, especially if you're one of those people that travel around and collaborate with other people a lot. If you use just one set of plugins that are protected this way, which I don't think anybody does, then it would be OK, I suppose.

    Cheers!
