I've collected quite a few soft synths over the last five years as well as some hardware. :)

But I'm trying to whittle it down to just some essentials (easier said then done).

    On the hardware side:

    Nord Lead
    Roland System 1
Sherman Filterbank II (I'm still trying to get my head around it)
    Few guitar pedals.

    Software:
Omnisphere - Really diggin' this thing.
    Trillian
Tone2's - Nemesis, gladiator and Electrax.
    Airwindows - Loom and Vacuum.
    Xils 4 and SynthX
    Reveal Sound's - Spire.
Dune II - Cracking synth for pads.
Diversion - Modern sounding but very powerful.
    Diva.
    Zebra.

So what do you guys like to use?

    Cheers,

    Rob.

I've got my eye on Serum! Ah, it's just about seeing what everyone else uses. And then fan-boying (or fan-girling) over your favorites. :)

    Cheers,

Could imagine that MS-20 Mini could fit there, from software side Ace/Bazille on top of what you got by now, good choices, could easily just work with U-He and Spectrasonics stuff software wise, than again Spire is super nice and everything else you got there, fun times and choices.

Nice list... I actually sold my Virus TI. It's a great synth, I might get a snow at some point.

The Sherman FBII is for the distortion.

You can't really go wrong with NI's Kontakt. Although I prefer Mach 3 as a sampler (I just find it easier to use).

I do need a nice reverb all right. :)

i would never sell my Virus took me to long to afford it ok i have no kitchen now

but another hint i do---> just open Omnisphere and let the effects come from Guitar-rig Rammfire etc. even Soft-Strings or Arp`s
sounds like a roaring Beast  or to say like wifey when i sold the Kitchen :wow:

Yeah, they are expensive! 1700e for a TI2... I should have got a snow, would have suited my needs.

I concur about Omni - It's a class bit of kit. You can get some really interesting stuff going with its effects, and granular syntheses and combining layers. :)

you only need a good mic to record them, but kitchen one shots are ace, you can create a big variety of sounds.

@Rob can you post us some examples of productions you did or productions you like? So that members can give you some more ideas.

SQ8L yeah it is free but as good as paid ones. OP-X PRO is another alternative. The others are Korg products like Wavestation, Nexus, Purity, UVI Emulation II, Synth Magic for Kontakt etc. Actually there are hundred of programs like that :)

Aww mate, sorry to hear about that. :( I'd be crippled if my compu was nicked. Or my Nord...

I think Serum will be big! :)

Cheers for the link mate… Looks like it’s for PC only. I’m on a freakin’ mac! I should have stayed PC, I’m missing lots of great stuff. :(

Cheers must have a gander for it.

I’ve not used ace or Bazille. But everybody is raving about Bazille. From the demos I’ve seen it sounds class. Looks a bit intimidating as it’s modular.

Got AirmMusicTech’s Vacuum for $49 during their sale. Sounds very cool. Nice for pads as well as bass. :)

    Cheers for all the posts!

Sure! Sorry I missed this post... I'm not really looking for another synth per se. I'm more just looking chewing the fat about industrial music and equipment. :)

Here are some samples that I like:

Bestias de Asalto: I'm not mad on the vox but the pace and dark arps are class.

    This tune in particular:

I know that this is technically 90's D&B it's it's atmosphere is cool.

Industrial synths can be anything. But if you want agressive, metallic sounds, my fav are :
-Komplexer (or Largo...even if i prefer Komplexer)
-Nexus loaded with USER banks related to EBM/goth/indus (like XP Waldorf Blofeld...there are hundreds on the net)
-Spire : it rules in aggressive/modern sounds (not only)
    -ACE : semi-modular with attitude
    -Zeta 2
    -aalto : semi-modular again

I was suprised to see Celldweller use modular hardware. Modular or semi are a big part of industrial sounds. Creating crazy FX, twisted sounds...

All the rest are production effects, like Gorgon, Decapitator, bitspeek...

Not everyone likes NIN, but this thread is a lot of great infos: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/605445-nine-inch-nails-synths.html

What makes it special is charlie clouser made many post with info from behind scenes. Even if you dont like NIN, i think still good infos, reguarding tips tricks etc. :) He mentions stuff he use for current film scores too.

If you dont know him, check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Clouser he did lots of stuff you might have heard, but didnt know who did it.

Sorry to link other forum, i dont like that place but that thread = so much good info.
