Use an equalizer (I suggest you FabFilter Pro-Q/Pro-Q 2). Detect the annoying noise frequence and reduce and/or eradicate it. It is a boring process but could help you. :grooves:

More help here and here and here

Hi! :D you should use Izotope RX 4, it's the best at audio repair...once you install it, you import the file, and use DeNoise which really can help you with reducing the noise you want to eliminate... I recommend process it 2 times or three depending of the level of the noise, believe me, this RX is awesome for that....

Izotope rx can do this if you have a section of the recording where there is no singing and the noise is by itself.
It reads the noise signature, then u can get it to remove it from the rest of the recording (it's no magic bullet, but it does do a damn fine job of this.)

Usually a combination of a gate (or trimming any "silence" out of the vocal file), high pass filter, surgical cuts with extremely narrow bands at the worst frequencies, and then yeah Izotope RX if none of that does the trick. Depending on the genre, the first few steps could be sufficient.

Re-record. Check your gain-staging. Record properly. There should be NO noise.

Or use Izotope RX or Soundsoap (as already mentioned) if you have to keep the one you got.

Btw, what does that even mean? Did you distort (i.e destroy) your vocal recording by accident? Is it clipping? Did you have a shitty cable? Loud ambience noise?

My first gues is bad gain staging, multiband gating can do the trick, alloy 2 would be practicle due to visual feedback from the meters

That means you have to get specific, and re-record the vocals after you have eradicated the specific problem(s).

You can get really far with a good preamp, good condenser mic, pop filter, headphones, dedicated audio interface and a vocal booth. And a good singer ofc.
