Favorite Reverb Plugin?

    I use a lot the Austrian Concert Hall and the Old French Theatre IR because they are included in the reverb section of The Grand 3. No doubt REVerence is a no-brainer but they should also sell it as a separate plugin so I can use the same type of reverb on other instruments instead of relying on external plugins. *yes* :rofl:

    It's really interesting how much heterogenity there is between us when it comes to choosing a reverb.

    I usually go with live's convolution pro or walhalla. I want to create really open and breathing rooms, with a large openness and very little tail. It's so easy with them and the results please my ears :)

    But it's really up to your taste, your workflow and what you're aiming at.

    redline is impressive.
    there is a freebie called amplio i really like at the mo. to
    Echoboy is the dogs testicles..

    Tried it. In a few words they just melt Breverb ideas with Morevox IRs. You build your own IR from scratch (or use the usual thousands ready made presets) using a matrix. Nothing revolutionary but the quality is ok.

    I was wondering about that, isn't it reverb overload using so many different types of reverbs all at once? I can't imagine a whole track built with Rematrix. Wouldn't it be too much? :dunno:

    It's good to have a choice, but if that means ending up using 6 different verbs in a track is counter-productive.
    Too many different ambience in the same track just end up messing the overall ambience feeling and make mix confused.
    I usually have 1main ambience, snare plate and maybe a dedicated for voice (with setting, especially on predelay matching the main one to keep it natural)
    On EDM and electronica in general you can go further, but messing everything up with too many reverbs is very easy.

    In the end the reverb is just the final one you created not 6 different reverbs. Think of it like a picture, the different colors contribute to it but you don't see each one clearly separated (3D apart :rofl: ). Obviously, excluding the presets, it is up to you, creating something good.

    same here..

    For special tasks I also use Exponential Audio Phoenix Verb and the Vallhalla stuff.

    In the mix, Valhala seems to sit nicer with not that much of tweaking, while is still very flexible at the same time. The guy who made it is a beast. :wink:

    I can absolutely relate to that. It's just so open and clear, it really is impressive.
    The lexicon reverbs (hardware as well as software) are very boring compared to that. Kind of plastic.

    I work in Cubase so I use standard Cubase reverb but everybody is talking about Lexicon reverb

    Well everybody talk about Lexicon cause they're great, but I have to agree with fraifikmushi on Lexi,
    they're somewhat too much "predictable" dunno how to explain. I wouldn't say plastic sound,
    they're awesome for high quality classic spaces, if I need something more creative 2CAudio stuff.
    Never dig too much into Valhalla, I have to give them a shot. The little I tried them I liked a lot the sound "signature" anyway.
    Lexicon native effects are pretty nice too, shame they're iLoked. *yes*

    I like Valhallaroom, but when I heard VintageVerb it was like love at first sound. :hug:

    Lexicon ones are great, too, but for that kind of money, plus they use iLok... makes it unobtainium [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium ] for me. :bleh:

    2C audio ones are the best of these when you need more realistic space, but I usually don't. For my style, Valhalla ones fit perfectly. ValhallaRoom for modern lexicon-ish sound and VintageVerb for older lexicon-ish sound, and Ubermod is like having a PCM 80 on steroids [first that came to mind]... and without noisy AD/DA. *yes*

    Artsacoustic reverb sounds what I would call "plastic". It never grew on me. Magnus' Ambience is one hell of a freeware reverb for small spaces that I'm fond of, too. I probably mentioned TC M40. It's really lush. A good alternative to Lexicon reverbs.

    It's also not just what reverb you use, it's how you use it, where, and what you do with it regarding processing. I always do something to reverbs, like EQ, filters, saturation, delay, chorus, or all of them. :wink: Also, sometimes reverb>delay sounds better than delay>reverb, you can also put some gate on it etc...

    Can someone compared rverb, trueverb, valhallaroom, valhallavintageverb?

    I am looking for a room reverb and a reverb for long tails

    right now for short room I am using trueverb, and for longer tails I am using rverb. The thing is, I find the waves reverbs to be quiet hard to program and I need to boost the eq a lot to hear it.

    Any advice?

    Well, ValhallaRoom is good for both, long and short. Also it sounds more "connected" in the context of a song, at least, to me.

    After trying B2 and Aether for a while, i just felt like they sound great on their own but disconnected in the context of a song. I know there might be no problem with the reverb itself,
    but it requires extra-tweaking.

    So if you want to avoid that, ValhallaRoom is "glued" right out the box but still flexible at the same time.

    Oh... and believe me, you will hear its reverb effect. Sometimes you'll be forced (in case you load an instance right on a instrument track instead of a send channel) to dig only around 6% of wetness and to still hear the reverb clearly. :wink: The "Depth" fader is like a mix knob between early reflections and tail. Bring that to the max in case you wanna focus the algo just on the tail or find a sweet spot in case you're searching for balance across your entire song.

    If you want just the Reverb "Effect" and not the simulation of a real space, then use the ValhallaVintageVerb. Either will get the job done.
    And even they look cheap, also being priced cheap as well, that doesn't judge their quality at all. Not only they do get the job done, but they are also very high quality.

    Another reverb which doesn't require that much extra tweaking is ArtsAcoustic Reverb. You just tweak the tail lenght, damping, early refl. level, pre-delay, diffusion and reverb mode and you're mostly good to go.

    P.S. If you want insane "organic" sound, Nebula's impulses are awesome.
