Curious. All prices being equal, would anyone consider a Chandler Germanium over an equally priced Pultec EQP-1 and why?

prefer to record with the germ and master with the pultec, I'd flip a coin when it came to mixing but would edge towards pultec if I couldn't use anything else but one or the other, but honestly I'd be happy to get to use either one. I wouldn't miss the other.

Both great sounding EQ/Tone shifter but not really comparable. pultec is 2 band (with bandwidth control) and really low noise floor , chandler 3 band (fixed bandwidth) +thick control for low end .. (if Chandler Germanium Tone Control EQ is what you ment above)

i´m also a little irritated cause i don´t know if you ment software emu or handware unit... based on the drastic price differences for the hardware units i guess you mean software emu .. (vst/aax ... )?

But in generally ... these are Mixing/Mastering7Toneshifting units .... noone can tell you which fits the best for your ears. It´s about you and what you like in your tracks..

So download the demos of the software and check out what is better to handle & better to work with in your opinion.. this also can help you with your decision if you looking for those great hardware units..

    Thanks for the feedback.
Not trying to have anyone over think this too much but ultimately, choose for whatever the reasons they assess, deduce their choice to one hardware unit in the end.

    Hi,

I have several Pultecs which i've built myself. Don't forget that the Pultec is a tube based eq and it will add a special dimension to the mix that the Germ won't. Pultec and Germ are both suitable for mastering and or mixing...

    Good Stuff my friends!

I love the Pultecs and have recently heard the Chandler Geranium Tone Control. Amazing and chunky!
They are different animals, but I was trying to decide on one. I'm not rich but money wasn't the problem.
Wanted to hear voices outside of my own head, if you know what I mean.

    Thanks. I'll buy both.

    Nice!
I was looking at building one for fun. Those kits are reasonably priced too!
Definitely was a thought before I had a good deal on both.
