In addition to the big ZIP button above, you can download this library from bigcat instruments which might be faster depending on your location.

This collaborative release by Karoryfer Lecolds and bigcat instruments is a simple cello sample library which is intended to be flexible and easy to use. The recordings are close-miked, recorded without vibrato, and completely unprocessed, so there's no pre-baked reverb, compression or EQ. You can shape the sound in whatever way you need to make it work in your mix, which makes this cello especially suited to pop, rock or EDM tracks rather than classical music.

The cellist had just received her master's degree in cello performance a few days before these samples were recorded, and in addition to interning with an orchestra she regularly performs with a pop/rock string quartet. In her spare time, she enjoys pretending to ride sculptures of penny farthing bicycles (or so it seems from the Kontakt wallpaper).

All notes are sampled every minor third. There are also bonus harmonics slides and percussive noises mapped to the keys above the notes. The mappings are:

Arco sus - long bowed notes, two round robins and four velocity layers, four octave range
Arco staccato - short bowed notes, four round robins and four velocity layers, four octave range
Pizz - plucked notes, four round robins, three octave range
Arco marcato - long bowed notes with short notes tacked on at the beginning
Arco unity - long bowed notes with all round robins and velocity layers played at once and spread in stereo
Total number of samples: 527. Total download size: 155 MB.

The SFZ mappings are just the notes mapped with no effects. The Kontakt instruments include several effects, including the aforementioned reverb, compression and EQ. There are some slight differences between the Kontakt and SFZ mappings when it comes to volume and velocity curves.

Cello samples performed by Kamila Borowiak, recorded and edited by Karoryfer Lecolds. SFZ mappings by Karoryfer Lecolds, should work with any SFZ sampler but have been tested with Plogue Sforzando version 1.669. Kontakt instruments created by bigcat instruments based on script and shell by Mickaël Ménager. Kontakt full version 5.3.1 or higher required. Wallpaper photo copyright Kacper Wiśniewski.

We are back in Blakus for when a pocket cello won't do. :bleh:
I think it does have a somewhat different sound and you can never have too many digital celli.
Life isn't fair basically two people worked on this (though the Dman did more work what with recording and cutting), one of them got to meet up with the hot cello player and her three smokin' sting quartet bandmates and the other stayed at home and never met no hot string ladies whatsoever. Can you guess which one was me! :snuffy:
