Native Instruments has announced Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate, the next generation of their industry-standard production suites, which comes with six brand-new instruments.

KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE come with six brand-new instruments – ROUNDS, KONTOUR, POLYPLEX, and the three new sampled pianos that comprise THE DEFINITIVE PIANO COLLECTION. KOMPLETE 10 now includes 39 instruments and effects.

KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE includes all 75 current KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects at the time of release and over 440 GB of content. Notably, the prices of these bundles remain the same, increasing the saving to almost 90% over the cost of purchasing the instruments and effects separately.

ROUNDS combines powerful sound design capabilities with advanced sequencing techniques, allowing users to play melodies, chords, and arpeggios while sequencing and morphing sounds in real time.

KONTOUR is the latest synthesizer from NI founder Stephan Schmitt – an extremely responsive synth capable of organic textures from mallets to plucked and bowed strings to distorted, aggressive and noisy sounds.

POLYPLEX delivers an intuitive, fun way to design drum kits. Up to four samples per sound slot are randomized on the global, sound or sample level. A host of effects including dynamics, reverb, glitch, and more are also on board for additional sound shaping.

Also included in both KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE is THE DEFINITIVE PIANO COLLECTION – three new high-definition pianos offering unprecedented detail, and a varied and nuanced sonic range. THE GENTLEMAN is a sampled instrument based on an upright piano from 1908.

Sampled with all the original parts, the instrument’s delicate and expressive sound gives producers distinctive, turn-of-the-century character with a supreme level of control for their recordings. THE GRANDEUR is a detailed sampled instrument of a beloved concert grand piano. Its bright, silky top end and booming, full bass are equally suited to a variety of styles including mainstream pop, jazz, and classical productions. THE MAVERICK is a recreation of a sonically singular instrument – a 1905 concert grand made for the Prince of Prussia. THE MAVERICK delivers a wide range of color and an unconventional sound where each note is full of character. These three pianos are also available for purchase separately or as a specially-priced bundle.

KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE also ship with the KOMPLETE KONTROL software. This allows users to browse all KOMPLETE Instrument sounds from one interface, accelerating workflow and providing a clear overview of all related sounds tag-based simplicity. KOMPLETE KONTROL also allows producers to access key functionality directly from the new KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboards. Registered users of KOMPLETE 9 and KOMPLETE 9 ULTIMATE will receive a free download for the KOMPLETE KONTROL software, giving them the same functionality on KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboards as KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE users.

Along with these brand-new instruments, each bundle comes with several new additions released since KOMPLETE 9. KOMPLETE 10 now features 39 products, over 12,000 sounds, and over 130 GB of instruments and effects, including DRUM LAB, SESSION HORNS, and SUPERCHARGER. KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE delivers 75 products, over 17,000 sounds, and over 440 GB of instruments and effects, such as ACTION STRIKES, MOLEKULAR, and RISE & HIT – all stored on a USB hard drive for convenient installation. Both bundles also feature best-selling KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects such as the award-winning KONTAKT 5, GUITAR RIG 5 PRO, and NI’s flagship modular synthesizer REAKTOR 5. MASSIVE, FM8, and ABSYNTH 5 cover the complete spectrum of synthesis for any production task.

Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate will be available October 1st, 2014, priced at $499 USD/499 EUR for Komplete 10 and $999 USD/999 EUR for Komplete 10 Ultimate. Various upgrades, updates and crossgrades will also be available.

Every synth from NI is always well received. And if it comes from Schmitt even more.

I can't afford Komplete ultimate but I'm sure R2R will bring the individual products so we can try them.

So Rounds and Kontour doesn't require Reaktor?
Well, on their website they say that audio demos for ROUNDS will be available on 15 September. I guess they made this product so hard that it's difficult even for them to use it  , or at least difficult for their producers who take care of the audio demos. Anyway, everyone
needs some time in order to learn a new product.

It's all a bit "meh", especially for owners of Komplete 9 Ultimate.

I was excited when this K10 and the new controllers were initially announced, but after seeing the prices, it's not that serious. $600 for a 49 key midi keyboard is ridiculous, on top of the price for the software. I spent $600 on the Maschine, the $100 for the upgrade to 2.0, and then some more on expansions, not that long ago, considering my total lack of funds.

I own Komplete 9 Ultimate for over a year now, I bought it because it was really cool and all, but I haven't really used it since, lol, I mean I haven't actually done anything with it, I just play my guitars and even that I don't always use Guitar Rig Pro 5. I'm a sucker for really awesome products that are marketed well and that have all that huge potential.

Guess what, I'm getting Komplete 10 Ultimate _and_ the new 61-key Kontrol keyboard :). It will sit nice next to my Maschine, with my Roland A-800 above it. It would take a lifetime to use all the tools in there, and to try and use all the sounds. I can't help myself, besides Christmas is around the corner. At least I can get the update price of $399 for Komplete. Man I love NI, and I'm sure they adore me, too, lol.

Controller price is not the only problem.
Even if it is a joke : combine Maschine and this controller price and you get a Virus TI.
Problem is more Kore (dead) > Maschine > KOMPLETE KONTROL (brand new sh*t)

When you create an hardware controller/software combination, hardware obsolescence is linked to software one.
If NI cut the software, you get an almost useless trash-filler hardware, like Kore 1 and 2.

What will happen to Maschine ? It was ALREADY supposed to be the ultimate Komplete controller. But NI change their "ultimate" vision every 5 years, like Apple.
Are you ready to follow every 5 years, like Apple hardware (even 3 years, now) ?

To me, it is not only price, but learning new tools supposed to make your life easier. And when you are comfortable, you get a "not supported anymore" message (Kore) or "not the coolest anymore" one (Maschine/Komplete association.

From a commercial point of view, they rules. From my consumer's one, not so much :dunno:
    I smell Kore 3...

I love when companies use words like Definitive and Ultimate to lure people in.. only to come up with something new and definitive and Ultimate 6 mo later and sucker people in all over again.

    Basic contradiction.

You are right on Apple changing their vision. However, we may all agree that regardless of the every 5-year changes, Apple still keep its customers though. As a matter of fact, long-time Apple customers start to anticipate these changes and looking forward to new products. By now, as a Native Instruments customer, I find it hard that we can't anticipate the same from NI also. I mean, not necessarily you, I'm talking in general. Well, on my end, I surely knew that Maschine was not going to be the last BIG hardware product that NI release.

I'm not sure when I'll buy the Kontrol keyboard but I see its value and potential use beside of my Maschine Studio. I for one, never embraced the full idea of using Maschine to play note/scale (some have excelled at that but I find it hard). So, replacing my Axiom with a Kontrol sound interesting because it goes beyond just merely a MIDI controller with its deep integration with Komplete.

As far as Kore goes, I guess every now and then a company fail to keep up with a product, which was the case for NI; I guess they can always say "we are not perfect" :( . However, as a whole, NI doesn't have a reputation to drop support and shut down product that are in wide usage throughout its history. And, that's both in the DJ and Production department. With Maschine expansion being release left and right, Maschine is here for a long time. Seeing that they have a good track on keeping products around for a while then I don't worry much of their product becoming extinct quick. We'll see how the new Kontrol series do as time goes!

I still pretend NI (and Apple) are killing what they want, when they want.
Not only based on CURRENT users, or sells. But on FUTURE sells of ANOTHER product if they kill it

Like Apple who killed Aperture, to mix it with iPhoto and create "Photos" . A lot of professionals used it, but Apple killed it to reach more consumers, having a single app and gain money on pro features dev. Because selling to pros is one thing, 10 times more non-pros users is another. Even for (almost) free.
Logic X smells Garage Band...may be they will be next. Or Final Cut Pro X, with iMovie. They done it several times in the past.

I don't have time and money to loose with "solutions" driven by companies changing their mind that way. I already dropped Reason years ago because the Props don't know where they go. They hit the wall, and change direction like blind toys.

I'm not against evolution, i'm against time and money investments i can't trust in the long term.
A non durable investment is not an investment, it is a lost
To me, it is not "wait and see". It is "no way".

Side note : some months ago, i was going to learn Logic X. Now i see what happened to Aperture, Logic X with an option to activate "advanced options" (lol) and looking like Garage Band, free OSX upgrade every year like an iOS gadget, Final Cut Pro X not getting back Final Cut 9 features...no way. Apple softwares (apart OSX itself) are on my "no way" list, like NI controllers, Arturia controllers, Tone2 products and more. I know digital world is changing fast (i'm a computer tech...), but there is a limit. MY limit  Everyone his own :mates:

Entire thing for what? Basically you already have what Komplete 10 offers except the new pianos and the new synths. Why would you need to install the entire thing again when you already have some of the individual products already? I guess you can afford to swapp hard drives like CDs  ... Anyway, you'd rather make music or collect things? :dunno:

I gotta admit I like pianos (if you've followed my alleged career you might guess that) and really liked the Giant, so those three new pianos really tempt me as they are by The Giant guy. The one is a regulation Steinway, but the other two seem very cool. Antique upright and grand of seemingly less common origin.

Thumbs up for bicat comment!
I am also very curious to see those new pianos by the Baron Uli (the maker of the Steinway Vintage D).
It seems (from the description) they increased the number of velocities recorded. The first seems a Steinway to my ears, the second I don't know (maybe a Petrof?! I noticed from pictures it doesn't have all the octaves so it must be a really old one!) and finally the upright which sounds gorgeous (it's probably a high-end upright judging by the tone which is really near to perfect! :wow: ). I wish I didn't know about these, because now I have to wait 'till October 1st! :bleh:
Oh, I almost forgot: the demos really suck so badly!

You are almost certainly right on the Steinway.
I speculated elsewhere that the Maverick might be a Blüthner just based on the leaked picture. A Petrof would be even cooler. It is "a 1905 concert grand made for the Prince of Prussia".
The Gentleman is "an upright piano from 1908. This piano has survived with all the original parts intact..."
Unfortunately the 400 buck upgrade is too rich for my blood. I've given away about 1/3 million free Kontakt instruments. You would think NI could give me a dozen free instruments and upgrade me to KU10! :dunno: I think not. :(
