I don't know if someone noticed but since like first version 9 of Waves their plugins from like maserati, GTR Amp... are eating a lot of memory. Imagine when I load some projects with I don't know like 30+ channels put my soundcard buffer on max 4096 usually on smaller I put 1024 but it doesn't matter, memory is huge with them loaded, and when I remove them memory drops like crazy. I got 8gigs of ddr3 ram I think that's enough for normal work. But I noticed that since version 9 of Waves those vst's are eating a lot more memory then they used to, don't know if that's bad crack related or something else.

Here is pic. only two of them loaded, I set 1024 buffer size on my multiface I.

Small typo error in the title!
It has to be: "Some vst's from Waves eat a lot of memory", not "eats".
    And: MASERATI not masserati.

On MAC I did not notice big differences between V8 and V9, but of
course some Plugs may eat more memory than others.

BTW: When you KNOW a Plug eats a lot of CPU you can avoid to put it into many tracks!

    Also "VSTs", not "vst's".

Yeah, some plugins are demanding due to their algorithms and processing techniques. It's that simple.

Cubase 5 x32 .. yes some of their plugins are cpu intensive, but they are great aswell. You can try to create fx busses for cpu intense plugins & send signals trough. So you save cpu power Maybe a x64 daw will also help.

What's wrong with caring about spelling things correctly?

But the real mistake in the title is "memory" since obviously not memory (RAM) is the problem here, but CPU consumption.
That has nothing to do with memory.

And yeah, guitar amp sims in general are CPU-intensive, as are the Maserati plug-ins, because they include several processes in one single plug-in, so they also use more CPU than conventional plug-ins.

I won't get Digigrid don't have money for it.

Ehm, trying to teach 'the internet folk' proper grammar is hopeless, but let's not attack the few who still try OK? :).

About the topic, I did a quick test. Started up Reaper (my interface is in 96K, 256 blocksize) loaded up Waves v9 SSLGChannel stereo on it, and duplicated the track till I got 32 tracks. Windows (8) Task manager says +/- 154 MB ram usage by reaper.exe, and my _total_ CPU usage is around 17% but with short spikes to 28%.

Then did the same test but with Maserati VX1 stereo loaded on the track (restarted Reaper to make it a clean test). 732 MB ram usage, 76% steady CPU usage.
Then with CLA Vocals stereo, 792 MB ram usage, cpu maxed out at 100% (and feeling sluggish, so probably would have playback problems because of the maxed out CPU. But I didn't bother trying to play something).

I think those 'combo' plugins like the Maserati and the CLA series (not the compressors) just combine different plugins internally, and take up more RAM because of it.

Anyway, I can confirm that some Waves v9 plugins (specially the Maserati and CLA series) take up quite a bit more RAM than others from Waves v9. So it's not a problem in your system.
It can't speak for Waves v8, never used it.
