Intel Haswell-E: Everything You Need to Know (i7-5960X vs i7-5930K vs i7-5820K)
There's also DDR4 coming soon and imagine all that processing power between DDR4 and 5th Intel generation CPUs.
Let's face it though... everything comes at the expense of cash so... still great for the ones capable to afford such a kickass combo.
Also a great feature which the 5th Intel generation has against the 4th one is the Thunderbolt support.

    128 x 8 = 1tb of memory.

Everything you need to know: overpriced crap for idiots with way too much money on their hands. Intel uses their legal monopoly to ridiculously inflate prices on these processors and the performance increase is a joke. Cost to benefit is ridiculous and totally not worth it.

If you can afford this then you should hopefully be suppporting the developers.

Damn... and i thought they would bring the 5th generation for the same 4th generation price.

The fourth generation price for Intel Extreme processors is ridiculous as well and I'm sure will remain so even after this launches. The regular processors might be reasonable but stay away from Extreme.

Yea, and the difference between i7-5960X(extreme) and i7-5930K in terms of price, it's ridiculous. You pay twice as much just for a 10-15% boost? That's insane...

And in most operations it's not even 10-15%, it's something ridiculously pathetic. Intel is one of the biggest shitbag companies on the planet, fucking hate those scumbags but since there is no real competition they have free license to just do whatever. Welcome to the freakshow called planet Earth. And I have to say that if you have a decent 4th generation processor then there is no need to get this, it will serve your needs just fine. They try to make people believe that they NEED this because that's how they make money but it's not true. I'm more than happy with my system and don't feel the need to go faster.

my i7-3770k seems to be not so actual now? =)

  15. My computer is so fast that my songs are mastered before I even write them. How's that for speed!

It's actually more than enough. You shouldn't even complain for the next 2-3 years. :mates:

    :lmao:

And what's more funny is the fact that the 3dMark Vantage score/points never relates to the real-life practical situations. Some people might say "Well, i bought the extreme one because it got 2000 points of a score more than the other version" being something like 18000 vs 16000, but in the real life, you don't even feel the speed difference between the two. I guess that even the 3dMark program is kinda "hijacked" by Intel if you know what i mean... Anyway... as you said... this is Earth...

I7 3930k with average 10 Gb samples load per project -> Yes I need faster comp -> 10 to 15 minutes to load project (but I don't think that new CPU or DDR4 will help) :(

By the way I think this is the processor line where they've already begun using 3D transistors, it was a big breakthrough that was designed to help with energy efficiency allowing them to consume way less power. Could be good for anyone looking into a laptop. In my opinion Extreme simply doesn't live up to the hype and when you look at the cost benefit ratio, it's just bullshit. Like you said points don't indicate real world usage and computers have gotten to the point where they're really powerful so there isn't a need to upgrade every 5 minutes anymore.

I'm waiting for next PCI express and DDR4 to be launched to upgrade. But no hurry, my 5 years old i7 950 is giving all I need for now.

It is true that high end has always a higher cost per service, not only in the computer area. Cost per service is generally an exponential curve.

Hey I like the intro form this guy " It's Friday, If your not going to party and get crazy, you maybe put the information into your head"
