In this video we demonstrate the workflow improvements in Reason 8–new features to help you focus on what really matters: your music. The new workflow keeps everything you need always in view, always in reach.

Propellerhead recently announced Reason 8, the next version of the world’s favorite music making software that will be available on September 30th.

More than that, they switched every 5 years...after saying they will NEVER do something.
Old farts like me totally remember when they said Reason will NEVER support audio tracking. That's why they pushed Rewiring with other DAWs.
They created Record, killed it, and included it in Reason.

Same with plugins. Reason will NEVER support VST they said, but they created their own rack format for third party. And now you need to buy plugins twice if you use another DAW : VST and rack.

They added dongle, so now ppl don't even care to use it for free and buy it later (nice move guys)

Every time they release another version since V6, no one cares. Really.
Before V6, every Reason release was a flood of comments and interest.
Every release since is getting less and less attention.
Reason 7 was TOTALLY hidden by Ableton and Bitwig battle.

They are dead...but they don't know it. And still being arrogant with ppl like me, telling the truth.

I was an advanced Reason user, giving courses to my friends starting in music making.
Until i realized the Props just don't care about their users. And move their a** only when they are forced to. And so, too late.
If they moved it by integrating audio in the V5, instead of the stupid Record episode, they could be healthy.
I don't even speak about their closed format for refills, limited export and such. I was spending my time finding workarounds to their limited world.

They needed to cross the bridge of full DAW years ago, when the gap was smaller between them and others. Now, it is too late.
PS : sorry about the long post, but as ppl using Reason since V2 to Record mess, i got to say that to potential buyers

I haven't touched Reason since version 4 and not much has changed. I agree with Pipotron3000. I'm just surprised that Propellerheads hasn't alienated their entire market base.

I forgot to say Reason stack useless old modules.
They sound crap, compared to more recent modules, and even more crap against their own 3rd party racks.

So to me, only sample players (Octo REX, KONG...) deserve to be inside Reason. And all the rest in 3rd Party.
Because once a synth/effect is created, it is not updated, due to compatibility. Subtractor is aliasing like hell, Thor, supposed to be among the best, just sounded in the same league than Vanguard or V-Station (quality wise, of course). Near 10 years late. Malstrom, witch was innovative in his time, just sound average now against freewares....
No Subtractor 2, no Thor 2,no Malstrom 2...

What will they do next ? Remove all those crappy stock modules and replace them with third party racks only ? It is impossible, they will break project compatibility.
they are driving in the dark with only a torch light. This is not what i call good business :dunno:
In the same vein than Tone2 using malwares or Arturia selling V2 instead of fixing V1.

    wise words my friend.

I'm a legit reason owner but I stopped upgrading since version 5. And I'm sure there are more people like me.
Actually there were anything interesting since v5 that made me pay for an upgrade.

I only open it when I want to use the envelope controlled filter connected to the matrix step sequencer to create great filtered synth patterns.

Once I discover how to create this with other software, Reason... you will be history in my hard disk.

Props are trying to create their own path, but that path leads them to a cliff....
