Hello, i have an Ipad 4 and i'd like to get the audio through the camera connection kit cable.
I know that Apple does not allow this but i heard that i can do it with a jailbroken device.
Does somebody know about it please?
    Thank you.

you can search for audio interfaces that can connect using the connection kit, tho you might wanna look into a nice ipad dock, the behringer one (is202) is a very nice one, focusrite has made one as well and i think alesis too

edit: i wouldnt jailbreak the ipad, it gives some major audio/midi issues, notes get delayed and such

    Thanks for the reply.
I'd like a cheaper way like the camera connection kit. I really don't like docks.

The audio should play directly through the USB port of the camera connection kit without any alterations to the operating system. Just tested with a set of USB headphones and no problem.

    However..

Have you already purchased the camera connection kit? If not, there is the Composite AV Cable which has RCA connectors (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC748ZM/A/apple-composite-av-cable). This would be the most ideal solution as you can still have your iPad connected to your PC.
    This means that:
    i) You'll have lower latency if you're using MIDI between your PC compared to ad-hoc wifi, such as using a MIDI keyboard to play a VST on the iPad or for your DAW to send MIDI messages to manipulate parameters.
ii) The iPad will 'trickle charge' so it won't run out of battery power while you're using it. (As far as I know, it won't trickle charge if you use a USB hub that isn't self-powered)

Hi and thanks for the repply.
No i did not purchase the camera connection kit.
This is a a nice solution but i'd need more 6,35mm jack outputs or usb.
Can the sound pass through the USB of the composite AV cable?
Does the Ipad need to be jailbreaked? it's already jailbreaked but it's just for know.

    Thanks a lot.

it's from the apple store so i wouldnt think so, also are you not having issues with synthapps and sending midi to them?

I believe the USB out from iOS devices (not jailbroked) with the 30 pin connectors does support USB audio at 96Kbps, as standard.
So therefore compatible with a wide range of USB DAC's

The forums at head-fi.org is a great resource for USB DAC discussions.

An alternative to an iOS device, is a cheaper Android tablet with an up-to-date version of Android.
Android is slowly bringing in USB audio by overwhelming requests. There is an ongoing discussion at head-fi.org covering which android devices support USB audio and which don't.

Of course you would need a USB DAC for either of the above options but there's 100's of those to choose from these days!
