I have a decent selection of mics, but no ribbons. About the only way I'll own one of these is maybe win it in a contest or something. This would seem to set a pretty high standard/price tag. http://www.ribbonmics.com/aea/A440.html

  3. And don't forget the vertical case, it's a must have for another 165 beans. Of course you need the hand tuned stereo pair of else it is just a big waste. It's easy for me to say because my name is Elmer J Fudd and I own a mansion and a yacht.

In the old studio i had access to we only had 1 ribbon, Royer 121. beautiful mic.
was great setting up a guitar amp and doing an A-B with a standard Sm57 and the 121.

I always get scared using them though incase i snap the ribbon.

If you look at their site, they have untreated recorded files you can download and listen for A/B comparisons through your own system. Or you can get just a shell replica for video and stage eye candy for about about a $1000 US. I want the one with built in light. Too cool, too expensive for this "poor struggling artist". :drummer:

love those mics. I Always ask for 'em when I'm in a real studio. He is lucky. The closest thing like that that happened to me was I ordered a $5.95 plastic Flute-o-Phoneâ„¢ to play the solo in "Wild Thing" and got a $110.00 pearwood recorder instead. Gave that company a 5 star review. I did enter a giveaway for one of those AEA's from Sweetwater, though. As much money as I've spent there, they should give me one, or rig it so I win.

Without even knowing what I'm talking about, $5800 for a mic is... $%#$^^@#$^%!! Get a decent pair of Coles 4050 for half that price, and a high-end discrete preamps unit for the other half.
