reFX Rippler: new physical modeling Synthesizer plugin is coming soon - July 18. 2026

reFX Rippler is confirmed: the commercial version of Tilr’s excellent physical modeling Synthesizer is coming soon.

In early July, I reported on a new reFX synthesizer. My suspicion, and I was very confident in this, was that it would be the commercial version of Tilr’s Rippler synth. Now it’s official.

reFX has confirmed Rippler Synthesizer, and it’s coming soon.

    Features
Now we also have an unobstructed view of the features. They aren’t official yet, but much is known from the free Rippler synth from the past. Here is a summary:

    • two exciters (exciter with sample import + tweakable noise)
    • two resonators with various models, a fully customizable resonator editor, and flexible routing
    • two wavefolding oscillators
    • dual multimode filters with flexible routing
    • multi-FX processor
    • four envelopes
    • four drawable LFOs
    • four randomizers
    • velocity and aftertouch
    • 8 macros
    • and more
Here are some preset demos from sound designer The Sound Of Merlin.

The Sound of Merlin · Factory Presets for a Synth in Beta
I’m so glad Rippler is back. It’s a synth I instantly loved in the free beta because it felt like a Chromaphone synth unlike anything you’d ever get from AAS. I’m really looking forward to the new additions and what impact they’ll have on the sound.

reFX Rippler is coming soon. Availability and price are TBA.

Still have my original version from last fall! But I’ll likely upgrade to the commercial release since it should be more stable and hopefully work on my Mac because the original doesn’t…

Well it looks like the synth from pluginboutique named Carbon Electra. To each his own i guess. I'll have a listen though

EDIT: It sounds like a K5. Not my cup of tea unless i'm proven wrong.

With Nexus as master, it doesn´t seem to be a great alumn.

Hmmm... Here too. I haven't heard anything super special in preview sounds. Guess we'll have to wait for Rippler to come out and hear the whole thing :dunno:

Definitely waiting to hear what they’ve made from this monster, and with the better stability we’d have more room to experiment without it crashing… maybe we’ll get a “RipplerFX” where we can use the resonators as an effect or use external audio input as one of the exciters?

Seem to be a good synth for soundtrack and "music for video" composition, not something I do associate ReFx with tho :dunno:

Yeah, looks like Nexus, my eyes like it. Gonna give it a whirl for sure, it's not like I'm into acoustic sounds that much, but ability to further mess with them seems interesting, know that I enjoyed messing with Sculpture in Logic.

    those demos sound amazing:
quite real for PM and also opens the door for many new ideas with PM.

Look forward to see release and also see someone use it. I mean reFX doesnt do any demos or trials, so gotta have to wait for a release.

It got a lot more useful now that you don't need a magnifying glass to use it, and we have Apple Silicon SoC's to cpu power it, since it is still rather intensive. PM is useful for a lot more than just acoustic instruments, although it is very good at them too. ReFX might make this a good one. The Korg Z1 is all over this album:
