    Hey

    Update on The Glue 2:

I know… we’re slow… but Andy’s been working super hard, and The Glue 2 is coming along very nicely! He’s just working through the last few design decisions. He had a blast building the DIYRE G-Bus Compressor kit, which he did to save time on matching the circuit because each component could be measured before soldering. We’ll share a time lapse of that process soon, plus the audio examples which are looking and - more importantly - sounding spectacular, as you’ve come to expect of any Cytomic product.

Most Importantly: All existing Glue full and discount customers* will get an automatic upgrade!

So, no need to delay if you’ve been holding off purchasing, and likewise, no need to worry if you love v1 and need to keep it, as support will be maintained. An update page with more info will be out this week, and as one of our valued existing customers you’ll be first to know when we have a release date.

    EOFY Sale...?

There are a few wild sales on around the interwebs ATM… so we just wanted to remind everyone of our all-year-round discount deal that we offer to all customers* who’ve spent over $99 with us. Log in to your account to see your discount applied at checkout.

We also wanted to state that we are proudly independent with no venture capital or private equity involvement. Cytomic is here for the long term. And we never have, and never will, charge subscriptions.

    Antipodean Introverts seeking assistance...

We’ve basically spent the past 17 years being antipodean introverts but it’s time to change that. Please help us build momentum ahead of releasing The Glue 2 by telling your muso and producer friends about us, and/or leaving us a review on places like KVR Audio, Gearspace and Equipboard (or anywhere else you like).

Also, we want to celebrate you, our amazing clients, and get to know you better. Tell us what you’re doing, where you are, what you’re working on and how you’re using our plugins. You can reply to this email and/or say hi on our socials, and we’ll say hi straight back!

Makes me very hopeful it's going to blow Nebula out of the water. It is possible, but only a select few can do it. I was very surprised by the latest Kazrog MHB Red, it sounded better than a lot of my Nebula plugins. I have high hopes for The Glue 2, the first one is still one of my favorite plugins.

I got Wes Audio SSL hardware compressor clone this year and damn that is some smooth compression right there, it is hard to put your finger on it, but it breathes in a quite different way than any SSL compressor plug-in. The decays/sustains seem to bloom or lengthen naturally, and everything flows with more musicality and "human" feel — even at just 1 dB of gain reduction. It really does affect groove in positive way as master bus compressor for example. Maybe Glue2 will be a game changer though. I have bought every Cytomic plug-in and they do sound very good. I think the Relab 176 sounds very good for a plugin compressor, but different style than SSL compressor. That said, you can make great music with plug-in compressors and they sound good so this was not against plug-ins. However I was very impressed how the hardware compressor behaves compared to plug-ins.

About The Glue 1? First of all, it's really lightweight, sounds and responds well, has offline oversampling, DC block, updates added stereo unpairing, and that's just to name a few. It's a plugin that works great and sounds great. I suppose the newest version will add saturation options and that's where I expect it to shine and cross the analog barrier.

I'm curious about the improvements since the original Glue is a state of art plugin IMO.

Oh cool! Ableton´s Glue Compressor is still my go to compressor. Fabfilter C2/C3 for when I need specific curves or fine control over the sidechain signal (stuff like isolating kick drum from a drum machine´s main out), but usually Glue Compressor will do it.

I liked The Glue 1, the closest sound to SSL i found was stock TR5(TRacks) compressor, old version, classic, but lacks option or two tho.

Np! I never took T-Racks seriously until recently too, except for the classic clipper which was known ofc., but there is a reason why they use 2-3x more cpu than usual, Fairchild/VC-670 is also kinda interesting but it takes some time to set it up. MSI Stereo Buss Compressor(Free 32bit) from Minimal System Group was mentioned on other forums a few times(their Filterbank_V3 has a nice resonance too) and i sometimes pick it alongside old Redamption which has saturation similar to Logic compressor .. cheers!

Hey everyone, Emma here from Cytomic. Thanks for the post @thantrax, exciting times ahead for sure.
Just a couple of things, quickly:
    - cracks suck, please support your friendly indie software engineer aka my hubby Andrew :)
    - Yes, The Glue in Ableton is written by us but slightly streamlined, you can read about the differences in our FAQs
    - The Glue 1 already has stereo link, v2 will have 5 stepped options between 0 and 100
    - Other specific improvements will be on a feature page on our website very soon, but appreciate all the love for 1 which is still (after all these years!) a great product and will continue to be supported for many many years to come...
If you have any other questions please let me know, I've quit my external job to focus on Cytomic full time so response times should be more timely :)
    Thanks again for the post

not to open a debate but crack was the one thing that could bring me the time enough to try these and see consciously that IT IS a great plugin so from there i have AND WANT to paid for it... more in these days that we ( well i guess im talking for myself ) have to deal with ai slop and a flood of plugins were newbies for made an example (like it happened to me) cant hear the diference and if it's actually doing something to the audio in terms of quality. u know at first i saw the most expensive plugins and though why would i pay for it? and with the time i learn and educated myself and now im more available to pay 99usd for this plugin, it is hard-coded, and the passing years make it even clearer just how well-designed it is.

    B-side comments:
•Im a Rent-To-Own user so if u mind to use that way i knew some user would be greatful but i understand if u have ur reasons. for example im renting to own serum 2...cause this is the only way I can afford to buy this, living in my country and with the lifestyle here.
    •Love the name Cytomics xd.

Thanks for beign a present voice on forums ! ♥ Hope u doing well.

Hey @ELJUNTADERO2022, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand that around the world, USD99 means very different things. We know some people can only afford to use cracks, and might not be making any money off any music they create anyway. We understand some people enjoy the game of breaking whatever copy protection is employed. And of course some people refuse to buy any software at all!

We hope that anyone using cracks who makes it big will - at some point - purchase the software they used to make it big. We have a very reasonable trial version which allows clear audio testing prior to purchase. We have kept the price the same since inception, without any inflation, upgrades, or subscription charges (or sales - you can read about why we do this, and what we do instead by way of permanent discounts and bundle deals, in our FAQs). We looked at rent to own was but the administration was too costly and problematic for us (see Dirk Ulrich's recent post about winding up their rent-to-own offering). PayPal now offer installment payments which might help on that front, I guess?

Andy puts an awful lot of time and effort into every piece of software Cytomic has produced, which I think is worth paying for. One of the really frustrating things was seeing sites that were charging money for cracks... OMG! The audacity!

Anyway, as you rightly say, there is so much AI slop out there. That's not us, will never be us, and we're just enjoying making great software that really does what it is supposed to do, without all the hype and marketing bs.

Cheers, it's great to be on here, thanks for the welcome <3 Wishing you all the best in your music journey!

I don't have anything meaningful to add to the conversation, but holy crap is this the absolute truth. The Scream is THE most advanced plugin I've seen in terms of details, customization, realism etc. and I'm a huge addict.

Which makes me realize, now that I received my unemployment benefits, I should go purchase it.

Out of sheer curiosity : are there any future plans for "new" plugins ? I know Andy works really hard perfecting each plugin (The Scream was in beta for what, almost ten years ? And even the first beta was light years ahead of the competition lol), which would explain there being only three Cytomic plugins (if we don't count the Ableton/VCV/etc. stuff). So if you were to announce there's a Cytomic emulation of Buchla in the works, I think I'd die from the audio equivalent of auto-erotic asphyxiation

Not talking shit, it being in beta for so long was one of my favorite things. Every 6 months or so I'd remember to go read the infinitely long thread that was 10% Andy pontificating about whatever new technology he'd thought up to add, and 90% people whining about it still being in beta. Literally my favorite thread ever
