Hi! This song is currently at the mixing stage. Looking for honest mix feedback. Please critique balance, EQ, dynamics, stereo image, reverb, vocal placement, low end, and anything else that sounds off. Specific suggestions are welcome. Thank you all!

Can't tell you much about the mix besides it sounds pretty well balanced as it is. The highlight for me is the composition and arrangement. They are awesome. Great track ! All those parts flow so well together. Great vibe ! Can't wait for more of this. Album coming ?

I found the vox a little boxy and dry.
Some "crunchy" 80's reverb could help.
And a little more upfront too (1 dB ?)

Apart this point, i love the mix and the song too

Woman vocal could be a little more upfront too :winker:

Based on the first 40 seconds (after which I quit listening), first I would highly recommend you grid the drums, and time shift the vocal track so that they're aligned, or in sync with each other.

Second, I would add a DDL on the horns, with a slight (two commas max) detune to fatten them up (they're really tinny sounding).

Third, the vocal needs fattening too, so triple track it (have the singer resing along) if possible. If not, there are plugins that sort of do that - I think I've got a couple from Sonnox, but I never use them, and there are others.

The tonal balance leans towards the low end, and the horns and vox sit in the higher mids - but not much going on in the mid register. Perhaps more instruments come in after the 40 second mark - if that's the case, perhaps you can copy paste those parts, so they're there filling the void of the mids - unless you like having a lead vox floating and hung out to dry.

The most pressing matter is the drums and bass, and making sure the vocal track is slipped into lock. The rest can be attributed to stylistic choice or genre preference, but the rhythm section has to be tight - it blatantly isn't, and that's a pity.

Good on you for asking for honesty and critique; and good luck to you!

    Digital Delay.

Many options available on the market - my preferred is the Lexicon PCM42, but the PSP Plugin (authorized by Lexicon) works too.

Mix is irrelevant, easy to hear there's a decent song in there.

I find it unique und charming but amateurish, just need to step up a few gears.

Should forget about mixing and mastering, you can pay pro's to do that.

It needs producing, one of you needs to spend more time producing, start a new track with kickin' drums add a strong melodic bassline, just use a few repeated notes, 2 maybe 4 bars, nowt fancy, loop it, over sixteen bars, see if you can get a serious groove going, feel it, you need to inject some passion into your work, do a 128bpm 4 on the floor house groove.

You're good fun, original and capable but you need to up your game in every aspect, or hire others who can produce you.

Just need to be more discerning.

Good luck all of you, keep at it.

That's high praise! Thank you so much! Yeah, there's enough material for an album! Hopefully before the end of the year!

Completely agree about the vocal presence! As for the reverb, I think the idea is to hint at a more 70s feel, so maybe it tends to be on the drier side, I suppose.

Double checked it... It sounds fine to me. I agree it's not 100% tight, but I think it adds to the organic feel, makes it less stiff. Completely agree about the mid range. Monitoring is a situation here... But really, thanks so much for the support!

Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I think we're after a more organic, live sound rather than house music, which we also love btw! Just not what we're after here in particular!
