Hi! This song is currently at the mixing stage. Looking for honest mix feedback. Please critique balance, EQ, dynamics, stereo image, reverb, vocal placement, low end, and anything else that sounds off. Specific suggestions are welcome. Thank you all!

Can't tell you much about the mix besides it sounds pretty well balanced as it is. The highlight for me is the composition and arrangement. They are awesome. Great track ! All those parts flow so well together. Great vibe ! Can't wait for more of this. Album coming ?

I found the vox a little boxy and dry.
Some "crunchy" 80's reverb could help.
And a little more upfront too (1 dB ?)

Apart this point, i love the mix and the song too

Woman vocal could be a little more upfront too :winker:

Based on the first 40 seconds (after which I quit listening), first I would highly recommend you grid the drums, and time shift the vocal track so that they're aligned, or in sync with each other.

Second, I would add a DDL on the horns, with a slight (two commas max) detune to fatten them up (they're really tinny sounding).

Third, the vocal needs fattening too, so triple track it (have the singer resing along) if possible. If not, there are plugins that sort of do that - I think I've got a couple from Sonnox, but I never use them, and there are others.

The tonal balance leans towards the low end, and the horns and vox sit in the higher mids - but not much going on in the mid register. Perhaps more instruments come in after the 40 second mark - if that's the case, perhaps you can copy paste those parts, so they're there filling the void of the mids - unless you like having a lead vox floating and hung out to dry.

The most pressing matter is the drums and bass, and making sure the vocal track is slipped into lock. The rest can be attributed to stylistic choice or genre preference, but the rhythm section has to be tight - it blatantly isn't, and that's a pity.

Good on you for asking for honesty and critique; and good luck to you!
