If you don't have all the plugins how do you know the ones you really need? Better to have them and not use them that not having them at all. FCS. That's why this forum exist

I don't watch clickbaits, but is the point of video random selfproclaimed proaudio youtuber not being given free plugins, endorsed, or forced to give biased reviews?

He should've made a video about deleting & selling all the paid plugins out there.

Free plugins offer you to produce with very small pockets and in some cases, they're even better
    than paid alternatives.

I started making music only by using freeware back in the days and I learned so much about synthesis & stuff that way.
The only cracked software I had was Fruity Loops 6 XXL, which I then bought at version 9. At that time I had so many
free plugins that I didn't even need to buy anything else anymore. I even got some tracks of mine released on a
various artists album (no, I won't tell you which for privacy reasons), which a lot of folks thought isn't possible without
    "professional gear".

BUT money can't buy you skills, you have to earn 'em and with freeware you can do that without becoming poor.

I do not agree, probably one of the best popular science channels there is. Plenty of science channels out there that go into lots of depth but that's not what Veritasium is.

i can name offhand like 100 plug-ins which are free and are of better code than 100 others which are commercial.

and i can make you a list with 100 reasons not to watch youtube videos but think for yourself.

so watching random youtube content for hours instantly makes you a smart and diligent person?

that somehow sounds like an excuse for someone´s own behaviour. but it figures, for someone who does this.

How DARE Venus Theory says to delete my free plugins? This is heresy! Is he implying I should delete my synth1? I should delete the free plugins he released too! What am I going to be left with? I can't use my JS Reaper stock plugins? I can't make music that way! I also NEED my harmonics additive synthesis modulation to make the THX riser sound in Vital (https://imgur.com/gallery/vital-pad-into-riser-MZFycXy).

Still though, I am NOT deleting my synth1 anytime soon. I NEED that warm AND clean sound everywhere for FREE made by a Japanese. I am not joking around here, my free plugins shall stand STRONG just like the 4 unnamed Strength knobs in ZynAddSubFx versions with like 10 windows.

First, regarding the issue of "deleting your free plugins", this works as clickbait in the video. It’s just an initial provocation to grab attention. The bigger idea is to delete something not because it’s bad in itself, but because it becomes a symbol of excess and distraction.

So, the main idea would be to curate tools that truly serve a purpose: your studio should be filled with projects, not with "clutter". On the flip side, the greatest weapon of marketing is selling quick solutions disguised as "productivity boosts to you". So, is less always more? It depends, if you can simplify your production chain and that generates more output, then yes, that’s something worth pursuing and encouraging! In the end, this idea is praiseworthy and deserves to be repeated and reinforced: each artist must define what "enough" means for themselves, otherwise, each of us will be working to turn musical practice into a field of obsolescence.

But be extremely careful: I recall a cognitive scientist pushing back against the maxim that "less is always more". When it comes to reducing our flow of attention into shorter spans of focus, visualization, and creation, the cost is disheartening: humans are becoming incapable of developing creative forms due to a kind of thought atrophy conditioned by the cultural chain (the prevailing environment, where web/mass culture ends up stimulating the creation and diffusion of short forms). Just remember that names like Brahms, Wagner, and Mahler are full of long, expansive melodies of great lyricism, stretching across extended sections (sometimes more than 32 bars!). Too erudite for you? Then recall that Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, Jobim, and Joplin created dozens of standards built on the 32-bar structure.

A fine reflection, for those who understood the discussion the YouTuber is trying to promote!
