I have installed Trilian on Windows 11, using the "Spectrasonics Trilian v1.6 Factory Library [STEAM]" release. I followed the instructions, running the software updater and then the keygen to activate it.

The code from the keygen seems to be accepted, and when I click the Continue button in the Trilian app I am told to close and re-open the instance. But when I re-open it I get taken back to the Authorization screen.

If I select a Trilian instrument from the Omnisphere UI I get this error:
"Cannot load SoundSource "Bass Station Unstable Square" in Directory "Trilian Library". Try refreshing index in Browser."

I've tried clicking the Refresh button in the browser but it didn't help.

Any ideas??

 

Sounds to me like the patches for the plugin have not been properly applied. The NFO/install notes for the Trilian plugin you also installed should include a list of where to place the patch files. For my install there are 3 locations. 2 for the vst, and 1 for the standalone.

For authentication, in my case, both Keyscape and Trilian were authenticated at the same time Omnisphere 3 was. I didn't have to do each plugin separately.

 

The README for the release says:
"Place the «Trilian» folder to «C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM"
...then run the Software Update. Which is what I did.

I can see the Trilian library and instruments in the Omnisphere UI, but it's when I try to select an instrument that I get the error.

I've just tried installing the "Spectrasonics.Trilian.v1.6.6d.Incl.Patched.and.Keygen-R2R" release on top of it, but am getting exactly the same problem.

 

Adding another release on top of an already buggy install won't make it better.

Did you get your omnisphere install authenticated and working properly? If not, that will impact any other Spectrasonics plugins you try to install. As I wrote above, the authentication for Omnisphere applies to Keyscape and Trilian (assuming they are all patched correctly).

 

Yes I have Omnisphere 2.8.7 authenticated and running, and can access my Keyscape instruments. It's just Trilian that won't play the game

 

Did you check the permissions on the Trilian folder? The error you first posted sounds like it can't actually access the Trilian related files in the STEAM folder. Compare the permissions with your Keyscape folder/files.

Also, if you hit the logo on the interface, it returns to the splash screen, where you can hit the diagnostics button. Make sure you have the right locations showing there, and if you can't tell then screenshot them.

You can also try the old trick to move, rename to BAK, or delete the zmap file which forces it to rebuild the database.

 

Permissions on the Trilian folder (in STEAM) are Full Control for all users.

Your screenshot looks good. If you do move a zmap file, it would probably only be the Trilian one to be related. But instead of just deleting outright, back up that folder first so you can just put it back if it doesn't work. Or wait for someone on Windows to confirm that kind of thing....

Check this first: Omnisphere -> Utility -> Sound Source Paths
Next step would be: Utility -> Reset SoundSource Database
then: Utility -> Rescan STEAM Folder

These threads frequently go this way because of assumptions and skipped steps. If you had this setup before fine, but used a symbolic link aka symlink to this content on another drive, that is an additional layer to check.

3) DUPLICATE STEAM CHECK (silent killer)
Search system for:

• Spectrasonics\STEAM

Result:

• ❌ Multiple STEAM folders → Omnisphere may be indexing wrong one
  → remove wrong path from Sound Source Paths
  → restart → STOP
• ✔ Only one → continue

4) DATABASE RESET (index rebuild)
Omnisphere:

• Reset SoundSource Database
• Rescan STEAM Folder

Then:

• fully close DAW
• reopen plugin/DAW

Result:

• ✔ fixed → DONE
• ❌ not fixed → continue

5) PATCH BEHAVIOR CHECK (symptom classification)
Test loading multiple Trilian patches:

Result A:

• ❌ nothing loads / errors everywhere
  → install or STEAM corruption issue → reinstall Trilian update

Result B:

• ✔ some load, some fail
  → index/path mismatch still exists → go back to Steps 1–3

FINAL DECISION RULE
If Steps 1–3 are clean, the problem is almost always fixed in Step 4.

Everything else is secondary or misleading.

WHY THIS WORKS
Because Spectrasonics problems are not random:

They always collapse into:

• wrong STEAM path
• duplicate STEAM installs
• broken index mapping

Not “patch issues” or “refresh issues”.

Sorru dumb question but I can't find the Utility menu in Omnispshere 3. I'm sure I've seen it before but I just can't find it again
??!?

The path—or rather, the Steam folder—is fixed and always the same:

C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics
C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere\Soundsources
C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Trilian\Soundsources

During the initial installation, the PC remembers your Steam folder, and everything is automatically placed there. For certain sounds that don't have an installer, you have to copy them there yourself.

 

I don't think there's a problem with the location of the STEAM folder - other Omnisphere and Keyscape instruments are installed there and are working fine. It's just Trilian instruments that give me the "Cannot load SoundSource" error when select an instrument
