It begins at the 8 second mark, later on at the 54 second mark.

I've heard this mix and close to it in various indie-rock band's songs aswell, Arctic-Monkeys for example. I do quite have expirience with vocal mixing, I do not know alot about mixing and don't know the purpose of alot of vst plugins. But i always manage to make something decent out of the recordings. This mix however, i never succeeded in pulling something off like this, I tried Waves "The king's microphone" saturn and TSE tubescreamer but it didn't really give me the effect i was looking for. So if someone could give me some advice, fl mixer preset or a little tut in how i could pull this off with the right vst plugins. That would be awesome and greatly appreciated

It seems "radio mode fx" like in mono radio + low and/or smooth "distortion fx"... try to get it using some fx plug-ins.

 

It is kinda of a telephone trick. So, in Ableton live:
1- Eq
2- Distort/erosion
3- Saturation

Cut the low freqs (depends on the vocal gender) and the "higher highs".
Now you need some type of saturation. Try erosion or saturation. they add some harmonics but keep the lo-fi quality of it!

Mangle with the whole array of fx to craft to precision.

 

Parallel distortion and single-slapback delay.

I actually already had that vst all this time. Never bothered to use it because it caused cpu struggle and made the project offbeat. For mixing of vocal tracks its not a problem at all though! Thank you very kindly Kookaboo

 

I have an effect in Audition called "telephone voice". Sounds similar to that with a bunch of delay and reverb.

 

There is a tutorial on the Telephone Transmission Loss Effect in AudioSex Academy. Perhaps it can help.

Its very easy. Filter top and bottom > Distort > Add delays.
But if your asking this I suggest you go to youtube and watch videos on mixing. Spend about a month just watching videos. Start with Pensados Place.
