Sad, it still doesn't have stereo option. Making the dual mono setup is a PITA. At this point i believe they won't do it anymore, so i will need to wait another dev to create a host with stereo or linked dual mono. A2 sounds impressive, i'd love to use it, but for emulating studio outboard another player would be prefered, since NAM is designed for guitars.

He noted in a video about A2 that A2 will run on any chips that A1 runs on. So for the manufacturers that already made stuff like Dimehead etc, A2 can run on anything they've already made.

Yeah, but some manufacturers won't miss the opportunity to release 'V2' of their hardware and raise the price by 20%. Cause, you know - better than ever, wholly improved, fully A2 compatible and something something AI.

Hardware wise, there's no changes. Any device that loaded the old architeture will load the newer one. They will need to upgrade the software only, both the Gateway and the profiles, so it's a thing to keep an eye if the manufacturer starts being abusive.

Actually A2 is more efficient and easier to run on existing hardware!

I haven't tried it, but I watched some videos. StompStation Pro and Dimehead seem to be the main high-end players offering native NAM support.

Plus the sound at full resolution is awesome, but there is a small caveat. The Slim control is set to 0.00 by default, and you actually have to set it to 1.00 for full resolution. Hopefully there will be an update that gives us the option to change the default value, but in the meantime I will use a project template for my rig setup.

I love how simple the Gateway plug-in is compared to Tonex software which is a bit of a Backrooms nightmare. Plus, Gateway supports nested folders so its a breeze to organize your tones and amps.

The only gripe I have with Gateway is the GUI implementation of the Slim option: why have a static slider icon open an overlay with a single knob when you could simply have a proper slider? And the Slim option is somehow backwards: Slim at 0 is fully slimmed, slim at 100 is full-full. Plus the fact that the default is 0. It’s a bit counterintuitive.

I think it was a quick fix as the UI is almost identical to the previous iteration. Also Steve Attkinson is not a GUI specialist. Regarding the slim set to zero makes it run on less CPU, which would kinda make sense to a programmer :)

Yeah, once you know how it behaves it's fine.

One last question, there were all kinds of issues when using different sample rates (like frequency shifting) when the tech first came out, does Gateway behave properly if I'm working at 96khz ?

Good question. I always thought NAM was most happy at 48k? I usually work at 48k, so I have never really thought about this.
