Hey guys, I’m running a 2018 MacBook Pro Intel and while Cubase 14 still runs strong, every time I’ve installed Cubase 15 it crashes in like 2 minutes, even with very minimal processing with light plugins. Is anyone else having this issue?

Latest version? 15.0.21? Also try starting cubase in safe mode, start cubase and inmediatly press and hold Command + Shift + Option.

I'm sorry I don't have advice for your issue. I also am having an issue with Cubase 15. It's a graphical one though. It's kind of hard to explain, but there are these black and white lines that appear particularly around text and it makes it difficult to read the words. Strangely if you run your mouse over it (without pushing any buttons) it tends to clear it up, but then it comes back.

I saw on Google where some others were experiencing the same issue, but there doesn't seem to have been a solution yet. Somebody said it might be related to graphic drivers and to try and use NVIDIA's "studio" drivers instead of the "game ready" ones, but that isn't an option for me because my graphics card is too old (GTX 745) to run them. I don't have the issue with Nuendo though.

    I don't know what the hell it wants from me Uh-huh, uh-huh, oh-oh, oh-oh
    Ah-ha, ah-ha, doo-doo-doo, la-la-la-la SOMEBODY TELL ME, WHY I WORK SO....ooops sorry about that.

First, let's take a breath and stop working so hard for just a second—even if the lyrics to that song (it sounds a bit like a stressful Dolly Parton or Todd Rundgren jam!) are hitting a little too close to home right now.

That graphical glitch sounds incredibly frustrating, but you are absolutely right: it is a known artifact issue where the UI fails to redraw correctly until the mouse forces a refresh (the "mouse-over" clearing it up). Because Cubase 15 utilizes a modern graphics engine, older GPUs like your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 struggle to render certain UI layers, text anti-aliasing, or sharp vector elements properly.

Since switching to Studio Drivers isn't an option on that legacy hardware, and Nuendo handles its UI drawing slightly differently, we have to bypass the driver level and tweak how Windows and NVIDIA treat Cubase specifically.

Try these workarounds to see if we can get those lines to vanish:

    1. Disable Image Sharpening in NVIDIA Control Panel
A very common culprit for these weird "black and white static lines" around text elements in Steinberg software is an global image sharpening filter forced by the GPU.

    1. Right-click your desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel.

    2. Go to Manage 3D Settings on the left.

    3. Click the Program Settings tab (don't change global settings).

    4. Click Add and locate your Cubase 15.exe executable.

    5. In the settings list below, look for Image Sharpening (or Super Resolution/Scaling if available on your driver version) and explicitly switch it to Off.

    6. Click Apply and restart Cubase.
    2. Force Windows to Handle the Scaling
Sometimes the GPU tries to take over high-DPI scaling for text elements and completely garbles it.

    1. Right-click on your Cubase 15 desktop shortcut and select Properties.

    2. Go to the Compatibility tab.

    3. Click Change high DPI settings.

    4. Check the box that says Override high DPI scaling behavior.

    5. In the drop-down menu for "Scaling performed by:", change it from Application to System or System (Enhanced).

    6. Hit OK, Apply, and open the program.
    3. Strip the NVIDIA Driver Down to the Basics
Since you are on an older, generic driver, background utilities like GeForce Experience or NVIDIA's telemetry overlays can conflict with Cubase's UI windows.

    • Try downloading the absolute latest driver available for the GTX 745.

    • When installing, choose Custom (Advanced) Installation.

    • Uncheck everything except the Core Graphics Driver itself (remove GeForce Experience, PhysX, Audio drivers, etc.).

    • Check the box at the bottom for a Clean Installation to wipe out any corrupt cache.
Hopefully, one of these fixes lets you get back to making music instead of playing mouse-cursor-eraser with your screen! Which version of Windows are you running this on?
