Ref: Animals As Leaders. When the guitar kicks in, the first thing I thought of was Devin Townsend.

Jaguar were a UK band I think. The Posies are definitely American.

I meant the guitar :) I can hear a trem and some plinking behind the bridge, and it also sounds brighter than a Jazzmaster.

Whaaaat’s up Spy! Dude, it’s tough to find something on the same level of density (thumping on 8-strings, selective picking, and those super organic modulations), mainly because AAL is this insane micro-puzzle and literally nobody does it as well as Abasi, you know, like: copycats abound, but Abasi astounds!

So, what popped into my head, not exactly the same vibe, but Chimp Spanner has some cool stuff going on. Check tracks like Möbius Pt. I, II and III, The Mirror, or even material from At the Dream’s Edge or the EP All Roads Lead Here...

You might also dig something in Scale the Summit’s discography. It’s lighter, more narrative-driven and melodic compared to AAL, but still worth a listen!

Another one, Blotted Science, with some amazing math-metal/tech madness right there...

And of course, TesseracT has some killer stuff on Altered State, with rhythmic modulations and grooves that shift pulse, though obviously not as complex or super technical as AAL...

Plini’s got interesting material too, but way less extreme than AAL. Anyway, I’m out of ideas for now!
