If you want to come through with something different then that has little to do with what VSTs you use.

In addition to what Catalyst said - and he's pretty much right! - there are a number of developers you can't go wrong with. Depending on your preferred style, you should definitely check out products from the likes of FabFilter, Voxengo, Soundtoys, Sonnox, DMG Audio, Waves, Klanghelm, brainworx and the list may grow according to taste, experience and money *yes*. Do a little search on this forum, you'll find even a thread about 'favorite goto plugins'.
And I suppose you know the difference between a VST plugin and a VSTi one? In terms of synths, anything will work as long as you know how to process and mix.

Also... if you want your music to stand out learn, practice, experiment, invest in your room acoustics, learn, practice. Oh wait... there is something you should download asap! It's called Voxengo Span and it's free.

Synthmaster is very good, and not so common. But the GUI is a real pain in the ass. It has a learning curve.
FM8 is really good and can come up with pretty unique thing if you have the time to learn it.

Omnisphere, Kontakt and Reaktor should keep you busy for a lifetime.

Just a tip I use : Try to think in term of studio/group instead of VST... like what do I need for that song, and picture the hardware equivalent.
Usually it helps me to limit the amount of VST I use.
Even if everybody dream to own 20 analog synths (we do, don't we ? ^ ^) it's not serious to use them all in the same track.

Maybe it was off topic, but I felt to share

If you're making EDM, then chances are your sound wont be 'different' to your competitors.

If you're making EDM I's stick with Massive, Sylenth, etc...

    Hi Reymon,
nice to have you on the show!
I think you`ve made the right choices for EDM and as stated, it`s you making a difference not the instruments.

As PMS says: FM8 is very good, "hell of a synth", and it needs a bit more to get in... but than you got really something else.
The power reviews of Mr. Lehmkuhl are priceless (10min each) and should give you more then an impression of it`s potential.

For Kontakt you can find loads of outstanding Libs/Instruments suitable for EDM ,too.
And Reaktor shouldn`t need further explanations (Razor  ).
However, I don`t know how familiar you are with the forums for now, just check out the sections and use the search, you`ll find invaluable resources.

    Cheers

    Synthmaster is a little bomb.
Too bad there are 1 thousand buttons on such tiny GUI.

Reymon Ovalle, why post this in software news? this category should be for new releases and interesting stuff for the audio community, not this.

with the ~1000 available soundbanks for sylenth1, i wonder if there is a single pluck, pad or bass that still needs to be created (based on sylenth1 possibilities, of course).

Talking about similarity of the EDM (synths) instruments is like you would talk about similarity in the acoustic instruments of Rock / Pop / Jazz etc. genres so that's irrelevant. I'm sure that, for example Jazz artists don't try to replace their piano or saxes just so their songs can sound "different" than other Jazz songs.

The fact that EDM songs are so similar is because either these big "DJs" are pretty lazy to make their own unique sounds through synthesis approach or they just ghost produce their songs and the ghost producer likes to use a variety of sounds too often.

    Back to the thread now:
Reymon Ovalle , having all that three VSTIs you mentioned above already then if you want to come up with unique sounds, you don't have to invest in another vsti, you actually have to invest in more knowledge and practice. If you master one of those 3 synthesizers you mentioned, i can bet you'll know how to get unique sounds out of it. Don't try to wander on the wrong path... I had the same dilema in the past, but after i learned how synthesis works, i couldn't believe that i actually got everything under my nose without realizing earlier.

i agree with most, you can be hugely creative with few tools and sometimes, limitations are absolutely great.
i agree with most that spire is a great synth and i use it a lot nowadays.
i also like synthmaster but i could do without the seriously overcrowded interface. i have spent hours in it just messing and not actually coming away with anything at all ;(
i have a few synths i adore that i use frquently:
Surge ( free i think>).. really heavy duty and love the sound, it's a bit grittier but not noisy, than most..
    Ace ( for /of bass)
image line harmor ( seriously overlooked synth)
my fave at the moment is probably a tie between zebra and z3ta)
actually there are far to many to list...
i used to just work with audio and soundforge, then cooledit for a long long time...
    halcyon days : )
