I have hundreds of .acd acid project files, created in ACID Pro 6.0, that I still use. Does anyone know if the newer MAGIX ACID versions will open these older files?

 

Hello. I can confirm that the latest MAGIX version of Acid Pro loads old projects. Please remember to use the Pro version if your old projects were done on that and not in the "studio" one. I'm on PC and found the old DXi and DX plugins are impossible to be installed again (as far as I know) for full compatibility.

Beside this, if needed, there was a thing i figured out, years ago: to handle those acid files in a case of "sort"/"repair"/"compile/tryout" custom. (that save's a whole mix from my self at the past) all you have to do is: let us say you have as example a main-folder called "my-mix1" and inside are the most related files to the complete single mix "my-mix1" but anyway, if you load the project there are still missing files that you must have used at any time or some of them are compared to the past now random mixed at your hd's-clusters. Here's a custom solution that *if correct made* works as example for other or similar solutions:

1. Make a new Folder, eg. "MY-OLD MIX PT.1"
2. Put any related (what ever related means, main poin it includes a *.acd file from a project)
3. If all related you mean is inside that Folder, make a right click on this Mainfolder and compress as *.zip (here used: 7zip)
4. Now you got a file called MY-OLD MIX PT.1.zip, rename it to "MY-OLD MIX PT.1.acd-zip"

the magic begins, this single package file now got a "acid-pro icon", it crys for a test, so we double-click or drag'n'drop that good looking, feeled sorted well file inside Acid and the process starts, by decompress and load any related...press play, tadaaa (or not, than just optimize till you got instead a "chaotig files everywhere" for one mix, a proper single file with the mix. (i suggest, if 100% done - archive it for maybe Acid-Pro v12.0) good luck

thx, and: more and less, cause this process is of cause possible from inside acid, but acting those steps manually as described, it is (just speak for my self) faster, better and even more clear, than from inside with a *fixed* loaded project. after i realize this, i've process any project folders as this, each one as a single file = you doesnt have to loose in all kinds-> A: uncompress that file by hand and you got what you have before. B: drop it in any Acid and you got something you dont have before and C: you save a lot of space cause you're the master and be able how deep it get compressed, highest=tiny project but load's a bit longer inside acid before start, lowe... u know, *and once, at summer camp...* ;)

it depends. they should work fine on windows 11 if they're 32 bit (although I haven't actually tried in 11), if they're 16 they should still work in windows 10

 

forget 2 note in my 1st post,
just in case you even doesnt have try any newer \ or the latest version. this happens as default if you load very old projects: you get a message with content similar than "you're open a old project with a even older *g* version of acid, if you save this project after open here and now it doesnt work anymore with you're grandmas old version of acid" MEANS it's usually a good sign, so i suggest make before a backup of your old projects and if done update the one's you decide as described above, IF you like newer or the lates version. (also check pm, i send something that may also can help)
