I've been hoping for a decent manager for a long time and I found that recently.

To me it seems pretty good.
But here I stumbled upon other threads about Vsts managers and it seems that not many of you think these tools are well done enough to be useful.

This one handles vsts2 and 3 and others.
It checks update and provides link to the rband site. Or even to the login page, or any link you put.

It struggles to sort plugins by brands, I don't really know why. But as you can edit pretty much everything it seems cool anyway. (W.A. Production for example creates several entries with the brand name spelled with "." or without, and the same with spaces. )

Sonisto sales softwares and has a subscription but none of this is required to use the manager. The only option that seems to be off when free is the isolated list of not to date plugins, which is not really a big deal because versions appear on all plugs everywhere.

It can store all login infos for any given brand, and maybe with the provided link log you from the "download button. I can't tell as I haven't put any infos in yet.

I saw they sell Fabfilter and other brands I trust so it may be not that risky to put logins in it.

What do you audio experts over here think ? ^^

Does it send my personal information back to their server? If yes, that is a deal breaker for me.

I posted this here in the hope that some folks over here would tell me what it's worth as I don't fully get all the details of their terms. And others insights of all kinds.

In the Faq they say taht they don't care nor report non legit material if scanned by the manager. Yet these softwares will still indicate their versions and latest versions if possible.

One more thing I found today is that you can batch edit vsts and ath's a good thing.

Here's an extract of their confidentiality terms, maybe you could tell :

Hi all

It has been a few months since I talked about this site.
I ended up keeping my subscription and I think it may interest some of you as it is quite interesting plugin wise IMO.
So I want to share my experience with you, plugins hoarders ^^.

I took the monthly fee to try. 9.99$/month

I'm at 7 days towards my 5th month of membership.
Til now, here are the plugins I had for free :

Tonerig Instability is a gift they gave at subscription time added to the first free monthly plugin which was, and that's what got me into trying, Relab QuantX (now Q82) essentials.

As you can see, they gave me Cherry Octave Cat, Eventide Mangled verb and last month HY-Plugins HY-filter4.
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of at least these first ones.

I'm also satisfied with their plugin manager.

Voilà, it was just in case.

 

as if "alphabetical order" would help you to find plug-ins back when you forgot their names.

oh, wait, it has "marketplace", now i understand.

I don't see the problem. I'm simply saying what I got from this site after 5 months of membership.
I thought QuantX Mangled verb and HY-filter 4 were great for that price.
Sorting thousands of softwares won't be that easy with any filter you put... And I just said "satisfied", not that it was a revolution.
At least it lets you know what is n ot up to date all at once and is compatible with Analog Obsession stuff and likes.
BTW no money is required to use the manager alone so really I don't see why you trash it yet.
All I can say is that it is less shitty than other managers I've tried.
Really I can't see your point.

 

May be because, at the end of this "plugins manager war", they will all have a marketplace.
And we are back to square one : internet (Vibe) plugin flood, not on a website/browser but on a manager/marketplace.

I'm old enough to remember KVR debut
Here we have the next incarnation : flood directly on your computer, without browsing a website.

Flood pattern :
KVR > pluginboutique > manager

 

Everyone should have enough knowledge not to install something like that.
It's about business; they want your money and your data, which they can also sell.

I don't even know what to say not to sound like I want to force you into installing this or anything.

My post update was about the plugins I received. And I still think it was a good deal.

You don't have to give any payment method to use the manager, and you don't have to use the manager to get your "free" plugins so what's the matter ?

I'm sorry, but after 20 years making music (for fun or not) I have a lot of vsts from a lot of different brands. A manager doesn't seem a bad idea.

Yet I feel like a lot of people here are paranoid about data. Not about the fact that they want and hoard our data, but about the real importance and value of what is inside your computer.

I mean, if it's about cracked stuff, it doesn't seem to spy on it nor report.

And of course, I would mind about twice before installing if I had great value stuff in my computer.

I understand the Plugin Boutique > Manager but not the KVR > plugin boutique. Could you explain what you mean please ?

To me KVR is more a marketplace than plugin boutiqe. But recently there have been changes over there that may indicate a step towards a more KVR-like model. I prefered the site a while back, before all big companys drowned it all (uad, waves, pa...). And before they changed their gift system, reward system and rating system.

I can't see how you want them to flood us with programs as it doesn't install anything you don't ask for. You mean by tempting us? With a lot of ads etc?

Honnestly, you may convince me to uninstall it more easily then I'd convince you to try it but I'm not trying to. I just thought I should report those 9.99$ vsts.

Manager is a "plus".

Actually, I made my first post about it (the manager) after seeing a free manager receiving very bad reviews over here.

I've always tried to crack the least possible stuff and it is not easy. So how do you do without deals etc ?

Till here I never got scammed. And as of now, still havent receive any mail or sales mail from them aside from my monthly receipt and plugin.

 

Thanks for your comment. Of course, everyone should do what's best for them and customize their computer and their life accordingly. I'm a bit older and have bought a lot of hardware and software over the years; in short, I own more than I need. My hard drives are also full of data, software, and samples.

 

it just looked strange to me that the first argument in their advertising was that it can show names in alphabetical order.

any filebrowser in any OS does that, too, since 1887, when computers were made of wood. (https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabulating_machine)

if you have 1000 files with names you can not remember and with all kind of depencies such as paths to content and prefs, copy protection systems and/or anti-copy protection systems within a manager app or elsewhere does not make a real difference to me if that happens in the OS or an app which can display the same list.

pluginval and AUval can help, preload in the DAW can help, totalcommander or Q-Dir can help to organize stuff. my custom organizer can help (which does magic things like patching instruments to make them show up as effects, or finding out which plug-in wrote that unnamend preset file.)

i am a notoric oldschool person, i move files by hand around, rename everything, apply custom icons, create different setups for different work steps ...

and i do not install shops on my machine which make me suggestions what to buy next. in my filterbubble we decide ourselves what to buy next and then go search for a good place to buy.

i am an autonomous republic with strong borders towards youtube & co.
