thats why i like what IL does - free lifetime upgrade and new big plugins cost extra, you dont have to buy them and you can update for free to the next major version.

Did they reply? How do you know you were "right"?

It was hard to read all that, almost tl;dr.

It's a double way of torturing the costumers, by the dongle and with the RE closed system.

Imagine that you buy a Hardware synth, and it has a special plug that could only be used with XX mixer, and only that one mixer, and you could never connect it to any other place or PA than that XX mixer.

    Would you buy that SYNTH?

    That's the RE system.

Because Reason 8 has been announced and its 130 euros and it adds nothing much except a 'Redesign' interface.
I TOO WONT BE UPGRADING :(

i couldn't find anywhere on their site where it said how much the reason 8 upgrade would be...

looks like the only new thing with Reason 8 is that they (like other DAW devs should do) is implemented a "Drag -n Drop everything" like ABLETON has been doin for years. All DAW devs need to copy Ableton's Drag ' nDrop... that too me is what keeps me going back to Ableton over other DAWs... the fact that you can click on samples and here them immediately, with no latency, AND to be able to have them conform to the Global Quantize is HUGE for quickly comin up with beats etc. PT's "Quantize" auditioning is complete JOKE if you ask me... and Logics is a pita as well... If I never tried Ableton, I'd never know how bad these other daws are at audition.

I think Cubase's was alright though... I had it for a short time but... eeehh.

FL is good with audition like that I think (probably where Ableton got it).

This proprietary dongle + RE thing is starting to become
an even more absurd torture than it was ProTools some years ago, when you had to buy a racked dongle to run it
At least now you need a damn dongle, but it's a standard dongle used by many devs (nothing that make me wanna use it anyway).
I second the question someone did, they replied you?
I can feel your pain mate, reaper was my first proggie in audio production, and every time a new version
was announced, I was amazed by the new module they put in, first Maelstrom, then Thor. And the distortion box...
I almost forgot about it now, years i don't use it, till v.4 probably (or v.5?) :mates:

If you buy a DAW all updates should be free for life, period.

lol. this company is still around?
    who actually uses reason X))))

reason is to the DAW world like OSX is to the computer world. no software. you are limiting yourself and your creativity.

Oops, Are you ready for the MAC squad from here to kick your ass?

I believe OSX is a decent OS to create music, and again, it doesn't matter the tools, plugins, daws or computers, it's all about creativity.

so yeah, for sure, a dragand drop feature, when before, there was nothing like that, is more than welcome. there must be plenty of reason users super happy with that new browser thing. but damn, that browser costs some good €€€ :)

I asked my local car dealer a similar question "When i buy this new Ford will it come with a lifetime of free service and fuel?"

He told me to wake-up and smell the roses :wow:
