I'm pretty much the same. I have a lame eBook reader and is very convenient. It's not that I travel frequently. I'm just a lazy-ass

Oh man. What memories. I spent like two or three years reading almost only SKing. Kept doing it until the 2000s roughly.

BTW, shame on him for leaving abandoned the Dark Tower saga for like, decades. At least the fucker ended it, but I had no interest anymore. That's a lesson every scifi/fantasy fan learns the hard way. And the reason I'll never read JRR Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones)" saga.

Even a trilogy like Patrick Rothfuss' "The Kingkiller Chronicle (The Name of the Wind)" can fuck you hard. I read the splendid first two. I waited, kept waiting only to find out the poor guy lately has major health problems and just can't finish it.

 

Prefer to meditate than read.

 

Don't get me started on Rothfuss, I forgave his mental health reasons. He took money with the promise of a chapter in return, then fucked off with the money. At that point I had enough. I don't usually swear, but I waited 15 years for nothing to happen.

 

Only if the reading makes me miserable. That's why I read political essays and philosophy a lot to being able to have a better understanding of the utterly fucked world we live in while not being able to do anything about it.

Those who don't know history are condemned to repeat it; those who do are condemned to watch the other fuckers repeat it anyway, helplessly.

 

I used to be a voracious reader, always had books or magazines on the go. Nowadays I don't read so much of those.

That being said, I read more than ever because of computers and internet and all that. That is primarily a reading experience.

Yeah, that is what is so great about the Kindle or likewise (f' Amazon and everything else of course), but tablet reading outside or whatever sucks.

an ebook reader is so much better, has a battery life of forever, holds as much as I need, easily side loaded (or was, I know there are some issues with newer Kindles and firmware updates), but mine has been offline for 2-3 years and just side load books right over to it... and no notifications or things bothering me... great when the sun goes down with backlighting, or at night in bed so you don't have to have a light on and bother you SO etc...

 

What's more interesting to me, I have an ebook reader, not a Kindle, but one of the fancier options who's name I can't remember.

I can get a hold of any ebook I care to think about, and often do.

But I have this weird gut feeling that I'm just collecting books now instead of plugins, and this weird sense that I*'ll never have time to read them all. Almost like time is limited and precious. Consequently I don't read many of them at all.

Is this a weird age related thing or what? Have any of you readers out there felt similar in your gut?

I use to read lots of books, ranging from political thrillers to Si-Fi to biographies. But as my eyes deteriorated I had to stop. I just read porn mags now.

I use to only read porn mags, but then my eyesight started to go. Now I only read political thrillers, Sci-fi et etc !

I'm either hooked in a few pages or not. Once hooked I can rarely put a book down too!

 

As a child I only read non fiction, then as a teen I got into fiction. Now I read mostly what's on the screen, so maybe I've become one of the semi-literate.
