I think before jumping to conclusions about UA or Windows 11 being the problem, it would help to narrow down exactly what kind of “blurry GUI” you’re seeing.

There are two different things that can look similar on the surface:

One is a licensing or auth state issue, where plugins can briefly or sometimes more severely degrade visually when they’re not fully authorized through iLok or UA Connect.

The other is a Windows rendering / DPI scaling issue, especially on Windows 11, where certain UI elements can get scaled in a way that makes them look soft or slightly blurred even though everything is working correctly.

To figure out which one this is, it would really help to know a couple of things:

    • Is there any demo message, watermark, or limitation showing in the plugins?
    • Or is it just a visually soft/low-res GUI while everything still functions normally?
    • Does the same thing happen in a different DAW or plugin host?
    • What are your display scaling settings in Windows (100%, 125%, 150%, etc.)?
    • Are you using a single monitor or multiple monitors with different resolutions?
    • Are you trying to use both machines as iLok Cloud? <- this one is my guess.
Right now, the symptom alone isn’t enough to clearly separate licensing from rendering, so a bit more detail would probably get this solved quickly instead of guessing.

the problem you are making it sound like, it is a graphics problem on the Win11 machine; but are you getting the blurred GUI because it is not authorized? If it can't authorize, the plugin will have 0 audio throughput. No sound. It's not like forgetting to put your contact lenses in. It will straight up not work. Like it is hung up from loading right.

I think I would try deactivating one plugin in your iLok Manager to test, by reactivating the same one.

Have you tried shutting down the Win10 machine while you have been trying to fix it on the other? Because they are not both on Win10, the Windows 11 scenario adds some additional uncertainty. Did you ever have them working on Windows 11 machine?

Their activation/locations for simultaneous use on more than 1 computer can even add some more uncertainty. If you could put one machine using to a dongle to test, that might even help figure it out.

I've had to reinstall them all before before, because they were pushing out a UA Connect update that was not Catalina compatible. I actually made scripts to block it from trying to connect, and eventually they posted a Catalina friendly version, but that was like a week later. the "Blurry GUI" loading that first plugin was the precise harbinger of them not being able to authorize, and to fix it I had to scour my SSD for all remnants before reinstalling worked. Something else to consider, they recently pushed out updates of every native plugin to "uadX", if memory serves right. If you copied over everything from machine to the other, instead of re-downloading everything on the Win11 Machine, you could possibly have one version of UA Connect looking for a different version of the plugins.

You have to install MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe . This solves the blurred Gui. Had the same Problem on another maschine and this is the official fix for this.

Same issue for me in the past. You have to install this WebView crap to get them working.

I was hoping the Webview was the answer. I installed it perfectly, but nothing happened.

I agree it is crap, but glad you got it going. I was really hoping it would work like many others. There seems to be many with this problem, even in Win 10.

Thanks for the input. I have been on the forum where many have the same problem. UAD is just repeating the same advice that is all over the forum and elsewhere. It is not a particular plugin....it's all of them.

    Just a quick tip...warning
Once I tried Revo Uninstaller's "Junk cleaner" or it has something like that a very powerful cleaning tool
It has done a great job my PC got much snappier but...I was opening one of my projects with UAD plugins inside and they were "not registered"
Man I nearly had a heart attack...couldn't figure out why...
After a while I found the problem...actually Revo Uninstaller's cleaner has stopped the PACE server which is basically the ilok's service running in the background so without this when UA Connect starts nothing happens so I had to figure out how to go into "Windows Services" and set the PACE to Auto instead of Manual...because the cleaner has changed this setting
So be careful with PC cleaners/tweakers they can cause serious headaches if you are not a PC nerd
What a painful day that was

Here's the Graphics-related "only on Windows 11" version which GPT forked over:
The real culprit: Windows 11 DPI scaling
Windows 11 tightened up how it handles:

    • per-monitor DPI awareness
    • scaling on high-resolution displays (especially 4K)
    • legacy plugin GUIs that aren’t fully DPI-aware
A lot of Universal Audio plugins (especially older ones) are:
    • not fully DPI-aware
    • or only partially updated
So Windows ends up bitmap-scaling them, which = blur.

Why it works on Windows 10
    Windows 10 was more forgiving:

    • it often let apps render at native resolution
    • or handled scaling in a less aggressive way
Windows 11 forces stricter scaling rules → exposes the issue.

    Fixes (in order of effectiveness)
    1. Override DPI scaling (this usually works)
    Have him:

    • Go to the plugin host EXE (e.g. DAW)
    • Right-click → Properties
    • Compatibility tab
    • “Change high DPI settings”
    • Check:
      • Override high DPI scaling behavior
      • Set to: Application
This forces the plugin to render properly instead of being stretched.

    2. Set Windows scaling to 100% (test only)
    • If blur disappears → confirmed DPI issue
    • Not a real solution, but proves the cause
    3. Use a different plugin scaling mode (if available)
Some UAD plugins have internal scaling options:

    • try 100% / 200% instead of in-between values
    4. GPU / display quirks (less common but real)
Windows 11 sometimes adds blur when:

    • mixed DPI monitors are used
    • GPU scaling is enabled in driver settings

I hope that info pans out. I did the scaling test awhile back. I also performed the override high DPI SCALING BEHAVIOR, during my testing during that time.
I think I need to revisit many of the fixes provided me on this thread, just to make sure. I absolutely appreciate all the help everyone provided here. You guys are great!!
If I do get this going I will imediately post the fix, and buy everyone a cold beer!
