Can omnisphere 2 plugin be used with omnisphere 3 new library ? I want to upgrade but I have saved so many vstpresets from omnisphere 2,so I'll have to keep both if I choose to.

Also does the new library include all sounds from 2?

Lastly how will get my ratings within the plugin if I upgrade?

You can't run version 2 and version 3 on the same machine. However, as Moogerfooger already stated, version 3 is backwards compatible. Patches from previous versions of omnisphere (1&2) are saved in the 'Legacy' section, and 3rd party presets, and user-created patches, from version 2 will load and play perfectly.

    It's a big read, but it's all here: https://support.spectrasonics.net/manual/Omnisphere3/

    @brazytupac!

    1. Spectrasonics - Omnisphere 3 STEAM Core Library - 56.7 GB

You don't need to uninstall anything, you simply overwrite the data of the new version 3 - just copy and paste! C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere

    2. If you do decide to update, please back up your settings and presets beforehand.

    Hidden folder

    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library
    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library\Presets
    C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library\User Tags

Seems like sonic extensions exist only in steam folder. Installing v3, then activating in standalone as suggested.
All extensions work and also old projects with omni V2 open seamless.

    There are two options:

    1. Open Omnisphere 3, then select install.omnsphere from the menu
    2. or load your *.FXP (Single Presets) or VSTPRESET (VST3) files with your DAW.

There's a "Refresh" button at the bottom of the browser window!

If you tell me which DAW you're using or provide a screenshot of your data/presets, I can help you more precisely.

If you load FL Studio and open Omnisphere 3, you can load your presets using the wrapper! Please try it out!

    LOAD.jpg

The Wrapper is a software interface/layer between instrument / effect plugins and FL Studio. All controls are common to all plugins (FL native & VST), while the plugin options (7) only appear on Wrappers hosting VST format plugins. The Wrapper provides compatibility with the VST 1, 2 & 3 standards (the screenshot below demonstrates the Fruity Wrapper hosting the 'Drumaxx' VSTi plugin). More information on installing and using 3rd party VST/DX plugins here.
    • Presets
      • Load preset/bank - Allows you to import a standard VST bank (FXB) or preset (FXP) in the currently hosted plugin instance. A bank replaces all of the programs for this plugin instance, while loading a preset replaces only the currently active program.
      • Save preset - Allows you to export the current patch as a VST preset (FXP).
      • Save all - Exports all programs in the bank as individual VST presets (FXP).

I wanted to know what format your user presets are in: *.FXP, VSTPRESET, or OMNISPHERE!

    OMNISPHERE.jpg
Open Omnisphere 3, then select install.omnsphere from the menu

If you have installed Omnisphere 3 as a VST3, you can also load and play the VSTPRESETS (VST3) with FL Studio using the "LOAD" button.

If your star ratings are showing for factory/Omnisphere presets but not for your User bank presets after upgrading to Omnisphere 3, there are a few likely causes:

    1. Refresh the Browser Database
Omnisphere stores ratings in its browser index. After an upgrade, the User preset index may not have been rebuilt correctly.

    • Open the Browser.
    • Click the Refresh button (circular arrow at the bottom of the browser).
    • Let Omnisphere rescan all User content.
    2. Check the User Tags Folder
According to information shared from Spectrasonics support, ratings are stored in:

    STEAM/Omnisphere/Settings Library/User Tags/prt_omn.index

Omnisphere 3 should preserve this file during the upgrade. If it was replaced, deleted, or not migrated, your ratings may disappear. There may also be backups in the User Tags/backups folder.

    3. Verify Which Directory You're Viewing
Several Omnisphere 3 users have reported that ratings are now tied to specific browser directories/views. A preset rated in one directory may not appear rated in another view such as "All Omnisphere."

    Try:

    • View All Directories
    • All Legacy
    • The specific User bank where the ratings were originally assigned
    4. Confirm Your User Presets Are Properly Indexed
Spectrasonics notes that User presets must be inside organized subfolders under the User directory or they may not be indexed correctly. After reorganizing, perform another Refresh.

    5. Did You Upgrade or Perform a Fresh Install?
If this was a completely new machine or fresh installation, ratings may not have been copied over with the User Tags database. Users have reported that ratings carried over automatically only when the original User Tags data remained intact.

    A couple of questions:

    1. Are the User presets themselves visible and loading correctly, and only the star ratings are missing?
    2. Did you upgrade on the same computer, or migrate to a new computer?
    3. Windows or macOS?
With that info I can suggest the exact file/folder to check next.

How To Copy Your Tags / Ratings / Projects
If you have tagged patches and/or soundsources and would like to copy those tags (including ratings and projects) to make a backup or to transfer them to another computer, locate this folder:

    Omnisphere: STEAM/Omnisphere/Settings Library/User Tags/
